  • Houston Astros vs. Seattle Mariners at Minute Maid Park | Daily – Fellow AL West rivals from Seattle will be in town for a long weekend filled with giveaways like a Yordan “Bat Flip” bobblehead and a coveted Yordan Alvarez throwback rainbow jersey. $27 and up. Times vary.
  • Brick Rodeo at Houston Marriott Sugar Land | Thursday to Sunday – Put your creative caps on and explore the world of LEGO creations at the annual Brick Rodeo event with hundreds of block-built masterpieces on display to marvel at across four days. Creators from all around the country will be present and excited to share their creations with you. $15 and up. Times vary.
  • Summer Literary Fest at University of St. Thomas | Thursday & Friday | FREE – Authors and scholars discuss their work across a wide variety of subject matter—from the importance of children’s literature to works of mercy—with each evening offering an opportunity to hear from a different writer. Registration is requested. 7:15pm to 8:45pm.
  • The Riot Comedy Club presents Gary Vider at Rudyard’s Pub | Friday & Saturday – Out of New York City comes this finalist on Season 10 of America’s Got Talent, dishing out jokes with his signature subtlety and dry delivery across two days. $20 and up. Times vary.

Put your creative caps on and explore the world of LEGO creations at the annual Brick Rodeo event with hundreds of block-built masterpieces on display to marvel at across four days. Creators from all around the country will be present and excited to share their creations with you.

  • Latin Restaurant Weeks at Multiple Location | Friday to Sunday | Ongoing – This two-week dining event sees dozens of participating restaurants across the city showcasing dishes in prix-fixe menus from a variety of cuisines, including Colombian, Ecuadorian, Mexican and across the Central and South America diaspora. Prices and times vary.
  • Watermelon Festival at Froberg’s Farm | Friday to Sunday – Soak in all the fun at the Watermelon Festival at Froberg’s Farm in Alvin, featuring a weekend full of family entertainment. Enjoy live music from Junior Gordon, a meeting with the Watermelon Queen, family activities, rind throwing, food, and more. $3 entry. 9am to 4:30pm.
  • Anime Texas 2023 at Royal Sonesta Houston Galleria | Friday to Sunday – Anime lovers can come together to enjoy Q&As with renown voice talent, cosplay contests, an anime rave, and more. $45 and up; $25 for ages 4 to 12. Times vary.
  • Comedian Donnell Rawlings at Houston Improv | Friday to Sunday – Featured on a long list of celebrated television programs like Chappelle’s Show, The Last OG, and Twenties, the comedian and actor Donnell Rawlings comes to Houston for a weekend of laughs at the Improv. $60 for 2, and up. Times vary.
  • Vincent Victoria presents The House of Patrick at MATCH | Saturday & Sunday – This new play focuses on fashion designer Patrick Kelly, trying to make it in the cutthroat world of Paris fashion in the 1980s. He meets an aging Bette Davis and their friendship transforms his life. $30. Saturday 3pm and 8pm; Sunday 3pm.

  • Midsummer Sip & Shop at Georgia James – Astros fans can mix and mingle with Reagan Bregman and Julia Morales at a Thursday afternoon event where you can head to the rooftop for a pop-up market event with bites and cocktails. Shop women-owned businesses, including skincare, clothing, accessories and more, with an optional Champagne welcome for VIP ticketholders at noon. $5 and up. 1pm to 3pm.
  • Heights Young Professionals Happy Hour at Trash Panda Drinking Club | No Cover – The Northside cocktail bar hosts a night of mixing, mingling and networking when the Heights group for young professionals stops by for a happy hour celebration. 4pm to 6pm.
  • Country Music & Steak Night at Now or Never – The Midtown watering hole hosts a night of country tunes while you chow down on delicious filets and ribeyes from Meat Therapy. $20 for ribeye steaks or half rack ribs; $25 for filets. 6pm til’ sell out.
  • The Wheel Workers, with Karankawa in Concert at Menard Park | FREE – The Save the Locals concert series rolls on in Galveston with a free outdoor concert featuring the guitar-driven rock of the Wheel Workers, joined by Karankawa. 6pm to 9pm.
  • After Dark with the Arts: Professional Networking & Art Expo at Hilton Houston Plaza Medical Center – Houston Millennials hosts this night of professional networking that also showcases the talents of young artists and performers, including graffiti artists, fire performers, dance flash mobs, fashionistas, magicians and more. $25 and up. 6pm to 10pm.
  • Author Alejandra Olivia in Conversation with J.D. Pluecker at Brazos Bookstore | FREE – The author, translator and immigrant justice activist discusses her memoir, Rivermouth, which looks at her years serving as an interpreter along the U.S.-Mexico border and her family’s generations-long relationship with lands on either side of the Rio Grande. Free to attend; but books for signing must be purchased from the bookstore. 6:30pm.
