  • The Pride Run 5K & 10K at Hennessy Park in Downtown – This special Pride Weekend run starts at Hennessy Park right next to Saint Arnold’s, headed west along the bayou and back. Early arrivals can also take part in a synchronized rainbow throw to get decked out in colorful pigments before you get rolling. $30 and up. 7:30am.
  • Families with Pride at Levy Park | FREE – The Greenway park space hosts this family-friendly celebration with interactive educational activities, Houston Public Library’s big games, hands-on art projects and face painting. Bring your doggo in costume to participate in the Proud Puppy Parade to kick things off. 9am to noon.
  • Dog Days of Summer Adoption Palooza at Lighthouse ArtSpace Houston | FREE – In Memorial City, twenty rescue organizations and shelters come together for a supersized pup adoption event, along with food trucks, local vendors and more to enjoy. Proceeds from this event will help fund operations at Houston Pets Alive. 10am to 2pm.
  • Galveston United Beach & Music Fest at East Beach | FREE – Held right on the shores of Galveston Island, this all-day music fest features eight performers, including Citywide Funk, Matthew Hartnett & the Gumbo Allstars, the Keesha Pratt Band, and Cupid. Concertgoers can also expect family-friendly games, glitter tattoos, a cornhole tournament, and more beachside fun. 10am to 6pm.
  • Tomball Author Fest at Lone Star College-Tomball Community Library | No Cover – More than 20 authors are slated to take part in this day-long event that celebrates all things books and writing. Purchase books and have them signed by the authors, knowing part of your purchase is supporting the library’s programs. 11am to 2pm.
  • POST Flea Market at Post Houston | No Cover – The team behind Flea at Silver Street brings an array of local vendors to Post in Downtown for a day of shopping local foods, vintage clothing, jewelry, and much more. 11am to 5pm.
  • Wazobia Family Funfair at Constellation Field | FREE – Texas’ largest African grocery celebrates its 10th anniversary with a family fair in Sugar Land, offering a day of games, music, food, kids’ activities and more. 11am to 6pm.

  • Houston Brunch Crawl on Washington Avenue – Brunch and booze your way through some of Washington Avenue’s most fun-loving bars. Starting at Varsity Sporting Club from noon to 2pm (VIPs at 11am), crawlers can take in entertainment, professional photographers, and an array of featured brunch cocktails and tasty bites on special along the way, with stops at Bottled Blonde, Clutch Bar, Todos Santos, and others. $25; $49 for VIP. Noon to 6pm.
  • Empire State Jazz Festival at Discovery Green – The annual jazz showcase returns to Downtown, offering a slate of chart-topping jazz musicians from around the country. This year’s headliners include Adam Hawley and Grammy-winning guitarist Scott Marvill. $40 and up. Noon to 10pm.
  • Summer Community Celebration at CAMH | FREE – Contemporary Arts Museum Houston hosts an indoor summer celebration, with drop-in experiences that will help you create your own works of art, as well as a photo booth, sports film fest, a visit with Houston Public Library, and a live performance from avant-garde group, Aurum Son. 1pm to 4pm.
  • Luau Night at East End Backyard | No Cover – The laid-back East End bar hosts a Hawaiian-themed luau with live music, dancers, lei greeters, and roasted pigs. 3pm.
  • Painting with Plants at Houston Arboretum & Nature Center – Utilizing the world of natural dyes, this workshop guides you through creating a watercolor-style artwork using different plants to create different colors. $45. 3pm to 5pm.
  • Great Awakening in the City Worship Experience in Alief | FREE – Enny Praise, the Nigerian-born Christian music artist, producer and pastor will lead a revival filled with songs of worship, which will also be recorded live. 5pm to 7pm.

The laid-back East End bar hosts a Hawaiian-themed luau with live music, dancers, lei greeters, and roasted pigs.

  • Pride Extravaganza at Star Sailor HTX | FREE – The Heights drinkery and kitchen hosts its annual Pride celebration with a night of live DJs and performers, flash tattoos and face painting, and drinks from Montucky, Topo Chico, Austin Eastciders and Lone Star. 5pm to 1am.
  • Thorn & Moon Magickal Market: Summer Solstice at Saint Arnold Brewing Company | No Cover – Celebrating the summer solstice, the Thorn & Moon market returns to Saint Arnold, offering more than 50 vendors to explore, tarot readers, curated music, food and tasty craft brews. 6pm to 11pm.
  • NPR’s Science Friday presents Cephalopod Week in Houston at Space Center Houston – The team from NPR’s and Houston Public Media’s popular Science Friday program land at Space Center Houston for a discussion and exploration of cephalopods—think squid, octopus, cuttlefish, and the like—and their role in space exploration with NASA, and more. $5. 6:30pm.
  • Road to River Revival at Market Square Park | FREE – The monthly concert series returns to Downtown’s historic Market Square Park, featuring tunes from Ellis Bullard and Tony Kamel. 6:30pm.
  • My Playlist 2000’s Tour at Smart Financial Centre – Throw it back to the 2000s with a supersized bill of artists like Ja Rule, Ashanti, Fabolous, Ma$e, and many more delivering hits of the early aughts. $59 and up. 7pm.
  • Official Houston Pride LGBT+ Parade in Downtown Houston | FREE – The 45th annual pride celebration takes to the streets of Downtown Houston near City Hall for a parade gathering that typically draws hundreds of thousands each year. With no festival taking place this year, attendees are encouraged to patronize Montrose gayborhood bars beforehand or head to Rise Rooftop for the official afterparty. 7pm to 11pm.
  • Houston Musical Theatre Company presents Broadway & Barbershop at MATCH – This cabaret-style revue offers songs from beloved Broadway shows like West Side Story, Les Miserables, Anastasia, Phantom of the Opera, Waitress and more, along with several barbershop harmonies, including The Music Man’s “Lyda Rose.” $35. 8pm.
