- Jo Nesbø at Murder by the Book | Friday, June 2 | No Cover – The New York Times–bestselling mystery writer signs his latest, Killing Moon, in the Rice Village–area bookshop. Free to attend, though books for signing must be purchased from the bookstore for $29. 6:30pm.
- Inprint presents First Fridays at Inprint House | Friday, June 2 | FREE – The oldest poetry reading series in Houston welcomes Anthony Sutton for readings his latest work, Particles of a Stranger Light, with an open mic to follow. 8pm.
- Kids Summer Kickoff Ice Cream Social at Brazos Bookstore | Saturday, June 3 | FREE – Jump into summer at this kid-friendly event designed to help you make new literary friends and discover new reads. Get 10% off Brazos Summer Treehouse Reading Titles, see who won the summer bookmark contest and enjoy ice cream. 3pm.
- Houston Public Library presents One Houston, One Book Read-In at Bracewell Neighborhood Library | Wednesday, June 7 – Join fellow readers at this all-ages gathering near Pearland, which celebrates the diversity of our city as part of Houston Public Library’s One Houston, One Book initiative. Individuals are welcome to sign up to read, as well. Registration is required. 6pm to 7:30pm.
- BBQ & Book Signing Event at Loro Asian Smokehouse & Bar | Sunday, June 11 | No Cover – Co-owner and Chef Aaron Franklin will be heading to Loro in the Heights to celebrate the release of his third book, Franklin Smoke. Attendees can enjoy a complimentary book signing alongside smoked Pulled Pork and Chopped Brisket Sliders for purchase. The first 50 guests will also receive a free signed copy of the book. Reserve a spot online. 2pm to 5pm.
- Liara Timani at Holy Family HTX | Saturday, June 17 | FREE – Held at the Second Ward Episcopal church, author Liara Timani discusses her novel, What She Missed, about a 16-year old girl who moves to her grandmother’s house in rural Texas after her parents lose their jobs. She’ll be joined by New York Times bestselling author J. Elle to discuss the novel and its exploration of family, change and growing up. Free to attend; $19.99 for the book. 3pm.
- Elin Hilderbrand at Blue Willow Bookshop | Thursday, June 22 – The bestselling author will personalize copies of her latest novel, The Five-Star Weekend, and meet with fans for photos. Those wearing hydrangea blue may also be selected to appear on the author’s social media. $30; including a copy of the book. 6pm.
- Paul Doiron at Murder by the Book | Friday, June 23 – Combining a noir style with the deep Maine woods, Paul Doiron’s Mike Bowditch mysteries take readers away from the lobsters and lighthouses, out into the mountains, forests and foggy islands, where secrets are kept and outsiders rarely tolerated. The author’s new book, Dead Man’s Wake, finds game warden Mike Bowditch dealing with a double murder. Free to attend; but books must be purchased for signing. 6:30pm.
- Tomball Author Fest at Lone Star College-Tomball Community Library | Saturday, June 24 | No Cover – More than 20 authors are slated to take part in this day-long event that celebrates all things books and writing. Purchase books and have them signed by the authors, knowing part of your purchase is supporting the library’s programs. 11am to 2pm.
- An Evening with Julia Heaberlin at Village Books | Wednesday, June 28 – The New York Times bestselling author arrives in the Woodlands to sign her latest thriller, Night Will Find You, currently in development as a TV series for FOX. Free to attend; $27.99 for the book. 6:30pm.
