Where to Find the Best Flower Shops in Houston

Shop the Flower District on Fannin Street

This de facto “district” lies just north of Houston’s museums, a three-block stretch of lush shops that have been a longtime staple for bold bouquets and flowers for any occasion.

Among them, you’ll find Country Rose Garden, where you can shop pre-made arrangements or work with staff to craft an enchanting array that’s ideal for your budget.

And at one of the city’s only 24-hour flower shops, Fannin Flowers offers sprays that spill out into the parking lot, gathered by employees that have arranged flowers there for decades. Shop loose fresh cut flowers, seeds and plants, pick up arrangements, or schedule deliveries to brighten up that special someone’s day.

Do try to plan ahead, though, as popular flower holidays like Valentine’s and Mother’s Day can see these florists crammed with last-minute pick-ups.

Mix a medley of flowers in the Heights

For 70 years, the Nobles family has owned and operated Heights Floral Shop on 20th Street, so it’s safe to say they’ve cultivated decades of expert knowledge in sourcing, arranging and delivering blooming flowers to customers in the local area. Known for prompt, friendly service and the ability to turnaround arrangements quickly, it’s a neighborhood staple in the Heights for flowering needs.

Out in Shady Acres, you may have spotted the Picked Flower Co. truck parked outside Heights Bier Garten, doling out bright bouquets and fresh selections, but when its not parked, it’s hitting delivery zones throughout the inner loop area and north of 610. Hit them up to get started on pre-made arrangements, or spring for a unique gift with available flower subscriptions that deliver arrangements to your front door.

And if you’re in the mood for browsing, then the sprawling, semi-outdoor Holiday Flowers & Gifts on Durham at the cusp of 610 will offer plenty for you to explore. The 24-hour shop is cash-only so be prepared, but the greenery is known for its vibrant collection of roses and carnations, as well as skilled floral arrangers and delivery service.

Settled into new digs just a few buildings away from its former location on Greenbriar and University Boulevard, Village Greenery has been offering full-service floral needs with a specialization in European design since 1980. The shop loves to play with color, texture and size to craft floral gifts that are often one-of-a-kind combinations, and they’re known for friendly service and quick turnarounds—even same day delivery as an option in many cases.

A relative newcomer to Rice Village, Isidora comes from Peruvian-native and adopted Houstonian Thalia Jaguande, who arranges hand-crafted, eye-catching florals alongside craft gifts and artisan pots from Peru. Stop by the cozy shop on Rice Boulevard to get an eyeful of floral varieties, as well as indoor plants, succulents and more.

And at the end of the block from Isidora at the corner of Rice and Kirby Drive, you’ll find one of Rice Village’s longest-standing flower shops at River Oaks Plant House. For more than 40 years, it’s been a community favorite and trusted source for all things green, renown for its quick floral deliveries and landscaping expertise.
