The dog days of summer are upon us this month, but there is still much fun to be had including great concert lineups, foodie events and several top-notch stage performances for the whole family to enjoy.

Events are listed chronologically by week, and are not in a ranked order. Events that span multiple weeks are carried over into the following week where appropriate.

Week of Monday, July 4, 2022

  • The Ultimate 12-Course Meat Tasting & Wine Pairing at B&B Butchers Shop | Wednesday, July 6 – Guests will feast on an exclusive 12-course meat and wine pairing featuring the best cellar cuts from one of Houston’s top-rated steakhouses. Chef Eduardo Montesflores will be on hand to educate guests on wine selections and the restaurant’s dry aging process. $375. 6:30pm. 
  • A Bayou City Picnic with Adysen Malek at the Arboretum | Saturday, July 9 – The third of four summer picnics at the Arboretum, this one features live music from local artist Adysen Malek that you can enjoy while noshing down on a picnic for two; your choice of sandwiches or charcuterie plus a six-pack of Saint Arnold. $85, with add-on options available. 6:30pm.
  • The Galveston Family Beach Challenge at East Beach | Sunday, July 10 | FREE – Get competitive as a family at a larger-than-life obstacle course on Galveston’s East Beach. Families will vie for gift cards and VIP tickets to Galveston attractions by competing through 14 stations for kids and adults, including games like bean bag toss, a life-size Battleship, limbo, volley balloon, and more. Free, but registration is required. 11am to 4:30pm. 

Week of Monday, July 11, 2022

  • The Masked Singer National Tour at Smart Financial Centre | Thursday, July 14 – Pop star Natasha Bedingfield hosts and performs on this tour of the hit Fox TV show, which also features fan-fav characters from past seasons, surprise celebrity guests, and more. $39.75 and up. 7:30pm.
  • Comicpalooza 2022 at George R. Brown Convention Center | Friday, July 15 to Sunday, July 17 – Get decked out in your favorite hero costume and head Downtown for a weekend of cosplay, autographs, and all-things-comics. Enjoy family-friendly activities, listen in on live panel discussions, shop from local creators, browse pop culture memorabilia, and much more. One-day adult passes are $68 for Saturday; $61 for Sunday. Weekend passes are $94; $6 for ages 6 to 12; free for ages 5 and under). Times vary.
  • Vertigo: One, One & One at Miller Outdoor Theatre | Saturday, July 16 | FREE – Take in a multi-sensory performance from Israeli-based Vertigo Dance Company when they present One, One & One, which sees dancers atop a dirt-covered stage, exploring our connection to the natural world. 8pm.

Week of Monday, July 18, 2022

  • Manchester City vs. Club América at NRG Stadium | Wednesday, July 20 – English champions Manchester City face off against Club América of Mexico in a summer soccer friendly event. $35 and up. 7:30pm. 
  • Houston World Series of Dog Shows at NRG Center | Wednesday, July 20 to Sunday, July 24 – See a field of four-legged friends compete in a series of events, across 150 different breeds, vying for the coveted “Best in Show.” Competitive events include flyball, creative grooming, a frisbee exhibition, and canine musical freestyle. $15; free for ages 12 and under. Times vary.
  • Kendrick Lamar in Concert at Toyota Center | Friday, July 22 – Fresh off the release of his blockbuster album, Mr. Morale & the High Steppers, legendary rapper Kendrick Lamar comes to Toyota Center for one of the most anticipated concerts of the year, joined by Baby Keem and Tanna Leone. Tickets are sold out at the venue, but you may find cheaper, better, or hard-to-get seats on the online ticket resale market. 7:30pm.
  • Houston Horror Film Festival at Houston Marriott of Westchase | Friday, July 22 to Sunday, July 24 – Get ready for a hair-raising convention of horror film icons with movie screenings, memorabilia vendors, panel discussions, cosplay, and meet-and-greets with horror film stars from Halloween Kills, Friday the 13th, Hereditary, and much more. $15 and up. Times vary.
  • Bridal Extravaganza Summer Show at George R. Brown Convention Center | Saturday, July 23 & Sunday, July 24 – Plan all aspects of your upcoming nuptials at the summer edition of this expo that features vendors, caterers, decor, floral, wedding dresses, and everything else from top to bottom for any bridal party. $5; $49 for VIP packages with additional perks. Saturday 10am to 5pm; Sunday 11am to 5pm.
