  • 2021 Pasadena BBQ Cook Off at Pasadena Livestock Show & Rodeo Grounds | Thursday, September 16 to Saturday, September 18 – Kick off the start of the Pasadena Livestock Show & Rodeo with a delicious barbecue and margarita competition. Single day tickets are $15. Times vary.
  • Comedian Ali Siddiq at Houston Improv | Thursday, September 16 to Sunday, September 19 – Featured on HBO, NBC and Comedy Central, comedian Ali Siddiq brings the funny to Houston Improv for four nights of sets. Tickets are sold by the table and begin at $40 for 2. Times vary.
  • The Crosby Zydeco Festival at Crosby Fairgrounds | Friday, September 17 to Sunday, September 19 – Fans of Zydeco music will have a ball at this festival at the Crosby Fairgrounds. This three-day event will feature more than 10 artists and bands, as well as food trucks and fun games with prizes. Single-day tickets start at $25; $5 for ages under 13. Times vary.
  • Diva Royale: Drag Queen Show at Buddy’s | Friday, September 17 to Sunday, September 19 – Kick off your weekend with a drag and dinner (or Sunday brunch) show in Montrose. Experience incredible impersonations of household names like Madonna, Beyoncé, and Dolly Parton. Tickets start at $20. 7pm.
  • Gatsby: The World Premiere Musical at Art Factory | Friday, September 17 to Sunday, September 19 – Watch F. Scott Fitzgerald’s classic novel, The Great Gatsby, come alive on stage at Art Factory, just north of Downtown. The story follows Midwesterner Nick Carraway as he navigates his new life in West Egg, an affluent community outside of New York City. Tickets are $25. Friday and Saturday 8pm; Sunday 5pm.

Update 9/13/21: Due to the approaching Tropical Storm Nicolas, many events planned for Monday night have been canceled or postponed, and many businesses are closing by 7pm. Before heading out, please consider your safety and confirm with the business or organizer that they will be open.

  • Monday Mayhem at O2 Lounge | No Cover  – Take advantage of O2 Lounge’s Monday night happy hour specials with Monday Mayhem at the West Houston nightlife destination. Hookah is discounted ’til 11pm and full kitchen service will be available. 6pm.
  • Salsa & Bachata Class at Fred Astaire Dance Studios in the Heights | FREE – Learn two of the most exciting ballroom dances, salsa and bachata, from dance professionals in the Heights. Classes are perfect for beginners and will conclude with professional dance performances. 7pm.
  • Harry Styles with Jenny Lewis in Concert at Toyota Center (Postponed) – Update 9/13/21: Due to the approaching Tropical Storm Nicolas, this show has been rescheduled once again. Ticketholders should hang on to their tickets until a new date is announced. UK heartthrob Harry Styles will be live in concert at Downtown’s Toyota Center. The former One Direction band member will be performing songs from his latest album, Fine Line. Tickets range from $39.50 to $149.50. 8pm.

Tuesday, September 14, 2021 

  • Comedian Mo Amer at White Oak Music Hall – Best known from his Netflix comedy special, Mo Amer the Vagabond, the stand-up comic returns to the stage for back-to-back sets in Houston. These performances will be recorded for an upcoming release. Tickets are $25. 6pm.
  • Tacos & Tequila Boat Cruise in Kemah – Take your Taco Tuesday to the next level aboard the It’s Five O’clock Here in Kemah. Chef-prepared tacos will be paired with cocktails by a professional mixologist for the three-hour cruise. Tickets are $125. 7pm.
  • Bewitched Burlesque at AvantGarden – For a spellbinding night of fun, head to AvantGarden in Montrose for the Bewitched Burlesque show. Channel your inner witch and watch performances from Valentina J’adore and Bella Be Damned. Tickets are $20. 7:30pm.
  • Soulfly in Concert at Scout Bar – Heavy metal band Soulfly stops by Clear Lake as part of their North American Tour. Tickets start at $21. 7:30pm.

Wednesday, September 15, 2021 

  • Apollo Chamber Players presents With Malice Toward None at University of Houston-Clear Lake – If you missed the Apollo Chamber Players season opener, here’s your chance to see it again on the UH campus in Clear Lake. This new work, composed by J. Kimo Williams, will tap into the philosophies of Abraham Lincoln and Ludwig van Beethoven. Tickets start at $10. 7:30pm.
  • El Grito Featuring Cambalache at Miller Outdoor Theatre | FREE | Virtual Option – Miller Outdoor Theatre is hosting a traditional Grito ceremony, held the night before Mexican Independence Day, with a performance by Cambalache to follow. This performance will also be livestreamed. 7:30pm.
  • Lerner & Loewe’s My Fair Lady at Hobby Center – First premiering on Broadway in 1956, My Fair Lady tells the story of a professor, Henry Higgins, as he transforms a flower-seller, Eliza Doolittle, into his idea of a proper lady. Tickets start at $35. 7:30pm.
  • Speed Dating at the Dogwood – The Midtown bar on Bagby is hosting SpeedHouston Dating for a night of mingling matchmaking. With a less-is-more approach (let’s skip the name tags), this dating event was designed to be comfortable and laid-back for everyone. Tickets are $33.50. 8pm.

Thursday, September 16, 2021 

  • Mexican Independence Day at El Big Bad – Celebrate south-of-the-border style at El Big Bad in Downtown with tequila-tasting and award-winning margaritas. The tequila tasting seminar includes a cocktail, flight of tequila, and access to the taco bar. You can also skip the tequila tasting and join the general event. Tequila tasting ticket is $30. General admission is free, but RSVP is encouraged. 4pm.
  • Downtown Beach Party at Potente – Say goodbye to summer in the best way with a tiki party at Potente. Executive Chef Danny Trace and Bar Chef Emily Schmeltz combine forces to make fun island eats and tiki drinks. Tickets are $75 plus tax and gratuity. 6pm.
  • Adrian Michael in Concert at Vintage Park | FREE – After appearing on American Idol and performing at the NBA Western Conference Finals, Adrian Michael will croon acoustic covers of Top 40 hits in Northwest Houston. 7pm.
  • Chris Renzema in Concert at Warehouse Live – Catch a set from Christian indie artist, Chris Renzema, on the Houston leg of his Hope or Nostalgia Fall Tour. Tickets range from $12 to $100. 7pm.
  • Tinashe in Concert at House of Blues – R&B singer-songwriter Tinashe travels to Downtown Houston for the 333 tour to promote her latest album. Tickets range from $30 to $59.50. 7pm.
  • KBong in Concert at Scout Bar – Reggae artist and multi-instrumentalist Kbong will be headlining the Clear Lake venue to perform the melodic, Caribbean-inspired tracks from his latest album, Let Love Lead. Special guests Vana Liya, Th3rd Coast Roots, and Satadaze will open the show. Tickets are $15. 7:30pm.
  • Lil Baby and Lil Durk in Concert at Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion – Grammy-nominated rapper Lil Baby teams up with Chicago rapper Lil Durk for a live performance in the Woodlands. The pair will be performing songs from their collaborative album, The Voice of the Heroes, as well as their other top hits. Tickets range from $39.50 to $159.50. 8pm.

  • All Access Art Show at the Ballroom at Bayou Place – There will be no shortage of art, music, fashion and food at the All Access Art Show in Downtown Houston. This event will feature more than 25 local artists to showcase and sell their products. Tickets start at $25. 7pm.
  • Big Thief in Concert at White Oak Music Hall – Indie rock band Big Thief makes a stop in North Houston on their latest American tour. Jimmy Stallings will perform as the opener. Tickets are $29.50 in advance; $35 at the door. 7pm.
  • #HeelsOut Ladies’ Night Dance Class at Nia Moves – Grab a few girlfriends and tap into your inner sensuality with a Ladies’ Night dance class in the Heights. After class, enjoy some complimentary wine and shop at different vendors. Heels are encouraged but not required. Tickets are $35. 8pm.
  • Pedrito Martinez Group at Miller Outdoor Theatre | FREE | Virtual Option – Get moving to the sounds of Latin jazz from the energetic, award-winning Pedrito Martinez Group. This performance will also be livestreamed. 8pm.
  • Matt Fax & Dezza at Stereo Live – Hit the dancefloor in West Houston with electronic artists Matt Fax & Dezza. Tickets are $5. 10pm.

  • Houston Jerk Fest at the Water Works at Buffalo Bayou Park – Centered around the jerk cook-off competition, the Houston Jerk Fest aims to bring the community together with great food and live entertainment. Ky-mani Marley, son of reggae pioneer Bob Marley, will headline this year. General admission is $31.30. 2pm to 10pm.
  • Bollywood Dance Demos at Sugar Land Town Square | FREE – Rhythm India Dance Co. is bringing Bollywood to Texas at this instructor-led dance demo in Sugar Land. Between the demos, the talented instructors will perform their latest routines. 6pm.
  • Uno Tournament at Tropical Daiquiris – Are you a self-proclaimed Uno champ? Bring your best to this five-round tournament in Southwest Houston. Winner receives $150 and prizes. Tournament signup is $10. 6pm.
  • Dancing Days: Led Zeppelin Tribute at Rockefeller’s – Rock out to classics like “Stairway to Heaven” and “Whole Lotta Love” at this Led Zeppelin tribute on Washington Avenue. Featuring musicians from Austin, Dancing Days aims to capture the magic that you would feel seeing Led Zeppelin live. Tickets range from $15 to $20. 7pm.
  • Clueless Rooftop Cinema Club Screening at BLVD Place – Enjoy ’90s cult classic and teen comedy, Clueless, in Uptown at Rooftop Cinema Club. Tickets start at $18.50. 8pm.
  • Los Bukis in Concert at NRG Stadium – After a 25 year hiatus, iconic Mexican Grupera band Los Bukis is back on tour and headed to Houston. Ahead of this highly anticipated reunion tour, the group re-released their smash hit “Tú Carcel” and will perform this and many other fan favorites live. Tickets range from $59 to more than $750. 8pm.
  • Summer Supper Club at Trez Art & Wine – For a sophisticated night of dinner and entertainment, treat yourself at Trez Art and Wine near Washington Ave for a supper club experience. Guests can choose several different meal options at the three-course dinner and try boutique wines and specialty cocktails. Tables for two start at $40. 8pm.
  • The Houston Jazz Festival 2021 at Miller Outdoor Theatre | FREE | Virtual Option – Set your Saturday night mood at the Houston Jazz Festival with Shelley Carrol and Mike Moreno headlining the show, plus a performance of John Coltrane’s magnum opus, A Love Supreme. Artwork by Jack Whitten will be displayed to inspire the artists and listeners alike. This performance will also be livestreamed. 8pm.

  • Battle for London: Chelsea Football Club vs. Tottenham Hotspur Viewing Party at True Anomaly Brewing Company | No Cover – Rally along with H-Town’s dominant sports club celebrating Chelsea football at a no-cover viewing party at EaDo’s True Anomaly Brewing Co. Everyone is welcome, even if you don’t know soccer. 10:30am to 12:30pm.
  • The Brunch! Mixer and Market at Pitch 25 | No Cover – Head to Pitch 25 in EaDo for a fall-themed mixer and market. There will be live music, an iced coffee bar, and local vendors selling market goods. 11am to 5pm.
  • Pop Sundays Brunch & Party at Brellas | No Cover – Looking for a new Sunday brunch spot? Try Brellas, which is only open on Sundays, for a fun day party and brunch in Sawyer Yards. Tables at Brellas are first-come, first-serve, or skip the line with a $50 per person guarantee in alcohol sales. 11am.
  • Paint your Pet Party at Eureka Heights Brew Co. – Create a fun portrait of your furry, feathery, or scaly friends by creating a beautiful portrait of them. Send in your favorite photo of your pet and you’ll receive a paint-by-numbers canvas at the event. Tickets are $55. 11am.
  • Weiner Dog Race at Truck Yard | No Cover – If you have a dashing dachshund, bring your pup to Truck Yard in EaDo to be crowned as the Fastest Weenie. As part of their Trucktoberfest, winners will receive a $100 gift card and bragging rights. Race begins at 4pm.
  • Artist Market & Circus Matinee at Numbers Nightclub – Head to Montrose for a bustling artist market and live aerial performers at Numbers Nightclub. This event will pay tribute to classic movies and iconic scenes you know and love. Tickets are $25 to $30 at the door. 5pm.
  • ’80s and ’90s Day Party at Belvedere – Bring out your tracksuits and gold chains for the ’80s and ’90s Day Party at the Belvedere in Uptown Park. DJ Krazzy Kris will be playing all of your favorite tracks from this two-decade span. Tickets are $10. 5:30pm.
  • Terror in Concert at the Secret Group – The Secret Group hosts Terror, the hardcore Los Angeles-based band, live in concert. The show will be opened by Drain, One Step Closer, Dare, and True Intentions. Tickets are $19 in advance; $22 at the door. 6pm.
  • Sylvan Esso in Concert at Bayou Music Center – This electro pop duo made up of Amelia Meath and Nick Sanborn will stop at the Downtown Houston venue to promote their latest album, Free Love. Tickets start at $29. 8pm.
