Just north of Beltway 8 off Old Humble Road, a tucked away taproom delivers exciting twists and inventive takes on non-traditional beers that elevate it to one of Greater Houston’s must-try breweries.
Ingenious Brewing Co. comes from the minds of Justin Gyorfi and Mike Broderick, a duo that have built a brewing partnership over the past 15 years out of Broderick’s multi–award winning home brewing passion.
The pair opened their Humble-area brewery in early 2018, and have since been offering unorthodox concoctions that defy classification and provide beer nerds with fresh ideas that sometimes land far outside of convention.
The Creative Suds of Ingenious Brewing
For the traditionalists, fear not as Ingenious Brewing still has staples that beer enthusiasts have come to love. Sip on a straightforward Belgian Wit, enjoy the bitterness of a dry hopped New England-style Double IPA, or dive into the experimental varieties on tap.
When you’re in need of an antidote to the Texas summer, Ingenious is brewing up milkshake-style Double IPAs fruited with citrus, peaches, and more alongside smoothie sour ales that are conditioned on things like cherries and lime (the Cherry Limeade), or strawberries, watermelon, and coconut (Tigers Blood).
Ingenious Brewing’s specialty lies in its ever-changing sours and unexpected flavor profiles of stouts and IPAs. If you see something you might like on their taproom list, then act quickly because this small batch brewery is liable to change out tap offerings on any given weekend.
And if you can’t decide on what you want to pour, not only are flights available, but you can also grab bottles and 4-packs to go—including the ability to mix and match so you can try several of their offerings at home.
Unwind your Mind at Ingenious Brewing
The rotating tap list offers a rewarding opportunity for return visits to the 2,000–square foot taproom, which offers air-conditioned seating inside and outdoor tables on its conjoined patio.
Sports is known to take over the taproom TVs, but you can also enjoy a selection of games, munch on delicious eats from visiting food trucks, and bring your pup along on the patio.
If you don’t have time to hang out, then curbside ordering is available and you can place a to-go order online or by calling into the brewery. You can swing by for pick-up from noon to 10pm, Monday to Saturday, or noon to 9pm on Sundays.
