Brewery Spotlight: Megaton Brewery in Kingwood

Take a tasting tour of the wasteland at the steampunk-themed taproom of Megaton Brewery in Kingwood.

Inspired by one of the best-selling video games of all time, Fallout, the 15-barrel brew house known as Megaton Brewery serves up suds that are both forward-looking and throwbacks to vintage recipes.

With three decades of homebrew experience and a meticulous attention to detail, brewmaster Jered Montgomery brings his concoctions to the spacious indoor and outdoor taproom, which opened full service in Kingwood in 2017.

The sleek, steampunk-influence decor (think gears, goggles, and brass) welcomes visitors, families, and pets on Fridays and Saturdays every week.

The Beer of Megaton Brewery

Sharing the taps alongside renown cideries and local wineries, Megaton’s rotating selection of brews features anything from stouts and IPAs to fruity experimentations and deliciously crisp and refreshing ales to cut through the heat of Texas summers.

On tap, you might find the intriguingly smoky Kölsch 45, the clean and sessionable Mass Appeal Pale Ale, and the fan favorite Atomic Chariot, a 7% ABV Golden Ale fermented with champagne yeast and finished with locally grown honey.

Plus, you’re welcome to grab take-home supplies to stock up your fridge with bottles and cans ready to go.

Space to Sprawl

With both indoor and outdoor taprooms serving up Megaton’s finest, you’ll find plenty of room to sip suds, play games, and hang out. Pets and kids are both welcome at the brewery, though they don’t allow children after 10pm.

Arcade cabinets line a back wall, plus you can get your Super Mario on at video game stations, shoot pool, and enjoy air hockey, cornhole, big Jenga, and more. Keep an eye on their event calendar and you can also catch live music, gather for watch parties when H-Town sports are on, and other happenings.

When you’re in need of a bite, food trucks tend to swing by and you can order off their in-house menu that features items like sandwiches, salads, and small bites.
