- Circus HVazquez at Katy Mills Mall | Daily – Marvel at the high-flying circus acts of the Vazquez family taking place under a massive, colorful tent. See trapeze artists soar, motorcyclists take to the daunting cage, dancing, and many other acts. $30 for adults; $25 for ages 2 to 10. Times vary.
- Family Storytime and Craft at Levy Park | Tuesday, April 20 | FREE – Grab a blanket and spread out for a socially distanced storytime reading, followed by a craft that accompanies the featured book. All craft supplies are included. 10am.
- Science Madness: Hooray for Earth Day at The Woodlands Children’s Museum | Wednesday, April 21 – Celebrate Earth Day with an educational morning that uses water beads and sensory bins to better understand how we all live together on this planet and we have to work to keep it nice and safe. $7 for ages over 1. 10am to noon.
- YHHCC’s Space Jam Movie Screening at Moonstruck Drive-In Cinema in East End | Wednesday, April 21 – Pull up for an outdoor screening of the out-of-this-world, family-favorite film, Space Jam, starring Michael Jordan, Bugs Bunny, and the Tune Squad, when Young Houstonians for Houston Children’s Charity (YHHCC) hosts a socially distanced birthday celebration that’s open to the public. All vehicles will receive a free “bento box” of snacks and goodies from local restaurants and vendors upon entry. $30 per vehicle; free for YHHCC members; $75 for one vehicle and one year of YHHCC membership. Gates open at 7pm; film starts at 8pm.
- Children’s Music Class in the Park at Sugar Land Town Square | Thursday, April 22 | FREE – Presented by Vivaldi Music Academy, this morning event welcomes families with children ages 1 to 5 for singing and dancing while exploring themes that inspired some of history’s greatest classical composers. 10am.
- Children’s Bingo at Levy Park | Thursday, April 22 | FREE – Start your weekend early with a 30-minute, socially distanced game of bingo for ages 4 to 12, with cards, markers, and prizes provided by Levy Park. 4:30pm.
- World Tai Chi Day at Market Street | Saturday, April 24 | FREE – Learn how to move mindfully through the morning when Woodlands Tai Chi presents an early morning of demonstrations and mini-lessons in celebration of World Tai Chi Day. 9am to noon.
- Spring Breakout Aerial Adventures at Big Rivers Waterpark | Saturday, April 24 and Sunday, April 25 – Head to New Caney for the final two days of the Spring Breakout event, featuring an inflatable obstacle course on the lake, climbing walls, zip lines, aerial activities, axe throwing, a petting zoo and more. $14.99 per person and most activities are available with this general admission pass. Extreme Breakout passes, which include the additional events are $59.99, but a limited number are discounted to $42 on select days. 11am to 5pm both days.
- HMNS: Dynamic Earth at Levy Park | Sunday, April 25 | FREE – Learn from Houston Museum of Natural Science experts at this in-person presentation about the Earth’s tectonic plates and the chaos that can ensue when seismic shifts occur. 2pm to 4pm.
- HALS Free Train Rides at Zube Park in Hockley | Sunday, April 25 | FREE – Hop aboard for a free ride at this large scale model railroad that features three passenger trains hauling the young and young-at-heart along tracks through the Hockley public park. 2pm to 5pm.
- Current Museum Exhibits & Art Installations in Houston | Ongoing | Some FREE – Across the Museum District and throughout the Greater Houston area, world-class museums and installations are offering up fascinating and engaging exhibitions that are ticketed or free. Social Distancing & COVID-19 Precautions
As we enter into the vaccination phase of the COVID-19 pandemic, medical experts still advise that we have a way to go before we achieve herd immunity and can safely resume pre-pandemic activities. In the meantime, you can remain vigilant in protecting yourself against the coronavirus by continuing to wear face masks when in public spaces, practice social distancing of at least six feet, limit your touching of surfaces, and frequently use hand sanitizer or soap and water to keep your hands clean.
While the Governor of Texas has lifted mandatory mask orders and capacity limits, most businesses are still requiring face masks to enter and enforcing reduced capacity. Familiarize with your destination’s policies ahead of time and please respect their public safety precautions.
