Exhibition at ArchwayGallery.com | Daily – Browse striking and powerful art in an online art exhibition from multiple member artists from Archway Gallery in Montrose. Texas’ oldest artist-owned gallery, which has returned to virtual-only exhibitions for the time being, presents a virtual exhibit that organizing artist, Tracey Meyer, attributed to the ground swell of public opinion against racism in the United States and around the world.
- The Re-education Project presents 2020 Virtual Summer Program via Google Classroom and Zoom | Monday, July 6 to Friday, July 10 – Through a virtual, interactive, and hands-on curriculum, students in grades 5 to 8 will learn about global black history, entrepreneurship, social justice, social intelligence, and literacy. The program will also feature an African dance and drum class, summer reading book club, and special guest speakers. $25 per person. You must register for this event. 8am each day.
- HITS Theatre presents Virtual Musical Theater Workshop: Moana JR. via Zoom | Monday, July 6 to Friday, July 10 – In this multiple day workshop, students will receive dedicated “triple threat” training in each of the musical theater disciplines: acting, vocal arts, and dance. Every day students will explore scenes, songs, and dances from the musical Moana JR. For students in grades 1 through 5. Tickets are $225. 12:30pm to 2pm daily.
- Midtown Houston presents Virtual Brunch & Books via Facebook Live | Tuesday, July 7 | FREE – Join Midtown Houston for a virtual Brunch & Books literary series. July’s book of the month will be But Where Do I Put the Couch by KariAnne Wood and Melissa Michaels and features guest Aryn with Oyster Creek Studios. This event will be held online on Midtown Houston’s Facebook Page. 11:30am to 1pm.
- Comedian Carolanne Miljavac at Houston Improv | Wednesday, July 8 – Standup comedian Carolanne Miljavac has cultivated a massive online presence across multiple social media platforms and has become the “go-to girl” for a good laugh, encouragement, loving truths, and vulnerability. Watch her perform like at Houston Improv. Tickets range from $50 for a table of 2 to $150 for a table for 6. Doors at 6:30pm; show at 8pm.
- NWSL Challenge Cup: Houston Dash vs. Sky Blue FC on CBS All Access | Wednesday, July 8 – Watch the Houston Dash faceoff against Sky Blue FC in the Utah 2020 Challenge Cup. Set to determine the 2020 season champions; eight of NWSL women’s soccer teams will face off from closed stadium and camp in Utah and broadcast on the CBS All Access streaming service. 9pm to 10pm. 9pm to 10pm.
- OCA Greater Houston presents Virtual Bingo & Census Assistance via Facebook Live | Thursday, July 9 | FREE – Log on for a Virtual Bingo game and play from your desktop computer, laptop, or mobile device. It is recommended to play on 2 devices so you can tune in to Facebook Live on one and play your game card on the other. This event will be held on OCA Greater Houston’s Facebook Page. 4pm to 6pm.
- Houston Library Foundation presents Young Professionals Group Pride Month Discussion via Facebook Live | Thursday, July 9 | FREE – Join the Houston Library Foundation’s Young Professionals Group for a Discussion of the book Untamed by Glennon Doyle. The group is reading this book throughout Pride Month and will conclude the month with a Facebook Live discussion on the topic. This event will be held online on Houston Library Foundation’s Facebook Page. 6pm to 7pm.
- Saint Arnold Brewing Company presents Virtual Beer & Cheese (& Cookie & Honey) Pairing on Instagram Live | Thursday, July 9 – Join Saint Arnold founder/brewer Brock Wagner and cheesemonger Nicole Buergers from the Houston Dairymaids on Instagram Live for a special Virtual Beer & Cheese (& Cookie & Honey) Pairing. Tune in to taste right along with them as they guide you through the selected pairings. This event will be held on Saint Arnold’s Instagram Page. Each package is $48. Purchase your virtual pairing package by the end of the day on Monday, July 6 (or while supplies last). You can pick it up on Thursday, July 9 between 11am and 4pm. 6pm to 8pm.
- Staehely Brothers and Thunderado in Concert at McGonigel’s Mucky Duck | Thursday, July 9 – Blending classic rock, soulful blues with a commanding stage presence, watch a live show from the Staehely Brothers at McGonigel’s Mucky Duck. Garage rock band, Thunderado opens the show. Tickets are $120 for a table of 4 and $180 for a table of 6. 7:30pm.
- Comedian Arnez J at Houston Improv | Thursday, July 9 to Saturday, July 11 – Arnez J hosted BET’s longest-running comedy series Comic View for two seasons joining the ranks of hosts such as D.L. Hughley and Cedric the Entertainer and his hilarious new comedy special Racially Motivated is now available on Netflix. Watch him perform live at Houston Improv. Tickets range from $60 for a table for 2 to $240 for a preferred table of 6. 8pm nightly.
- Brighter Bites, YMCA, Houston Food Bank host Produce Distribution at White Oak Music Hall | Friday, July 10 | FREE – Brighter Bites, the YMCA, and the Houston Food Bank host the Produce Distributions every Friday until the end of July at White Oak Music Hall. Produce Distribution will be bags full of fresh fruits and vegetables that will be provided for you and your family. There is no need to get out of your car as the bags will be loaded for you. Bags will be available on a first-come, first-served basis, while supplies last. 9am to 12:30pm.
- Midtown Houston presents Beats & Eats with Luke Whitney, Ill Tribe and DJ Mav via Facebook Live | Friday, July 10 | FREE – Midtown Houston presents Beats & Eats, a virtual party featuring music from DJ Mav and a live performance from Luke Whitney and Ill Tribe. Luke Whitney aka Lhitney is a pop artist from Beaumont, Texas residing in Houston that has accumulated over 24 million streams on two cover songs on Spotify alone. 6:30pm to 6:45pm.
- Lisa Morales in Concert at McGonigel’s Mucky Duck | Friday, July 10 – Watch a live set from local singer-songwriter, Lisa Morales at McGonigel’s Mucky Duck. Tickets are $120 for a table that seats 4 and $180 for a table of 6. 7:30pm.
- People of the Sun: A Tribute to Rage Against the Machine in Concert at Warehouse Live | Friday, July 10 | No Cover – People of the Sun, a Rage Against the Machine tribute band, takes the stage at Warehouse Live along with the Deftones tribute band, Deftunes, and Small Victory, a Faith No More cover group. The event is free to attend; $200 for a VIP table. Doors at 6:30pm; show at 7:30pm.
- Peach Street Farmers Market in Angleton | Saturday, July 11 | No Cover – Shop for fresh produce, meats, foodstuffs, jams, honey, handcrafted goods and more in a warm and friendly open-air farmers market. Food for lunch is usually available for purchase on site. The market will be happening rain or shine. 9am to 1pm.
- Summer Nature Nights at Edith Moore Nature Sanctuary | Saturday, July 11 – Head to the Edith Moore Nature Sanctuary for their new summer family nature exploration series. This event takes place in the historic cabin and space is limited to allow for compliance with CDC guidelines. Tickets are $20 for adults; $15 for children. 6pm.
- Summer Movie Nights: Frozen II Movie Screening at Redemption Square | Saturday, July 11 | FREE – Head over to Redemption Square all summer long as they screen some family-friendly flicks on the big screen. For this evening, you can watch an outdoor screening of Frozen II. Guests are encouraged to bring their own blanket and to maintain six feet of distance between one another. 8pm.
- Houston Symphony presents Live from Jones Hall: Bach, Price & Janáček | Saturday, July 11 – Concertmaster Yoonshin Song leads a live stream performance of J.S. Bach’s beloved Brandenburg Concerto No. 1, alongside sparkling music of trailblazing composer Florence Price. Written for an ensemble of flute, horn, trumpet, trombone, and piano, Leoš Janáček’s vibrant Capriccio dances with dark humor and bursts with virtuoso fireworks. Houston Symphony Conducting Fellow Yue Bao conducts. Tickets are $10. 8pm.
- Blood Drive at Gringo’s Spring | Sunday, July 12 – Gringo’s Tex-Mex restaurant in Spring partners with Commit For Life for a blood drive. Anyone who donates will receive a $10 Gringo’s Gift Card, a Commit for Life beach towel and donors will receive a free COVID-19 antibody test. An appointment is required. 10am to 3pm.
