Revel in one of Houston’s most iconic annual traditions, as the 33rd annual Houston Art Car Parade goes virtual with two days of digital and broadcast programming on Saturday, April 18 and Sunday, April 19, 2020.
With the actual 2020 Houston Art Car Parade canceled due to the Coronavirus crisis, its organizer The Orange Show Center for Visionary Art has crafted a schedule of art car-inspired events and programming for all Houstonians to enjoy.
There will be live tours of the Orange Show’s three Houston landmarks—The Orange Show, The Beer Can House, and Smither Park—along with footage of Houston Art Car Parade Weekends throughout the years, and an airing of Art Car: The Movie.
The feature-length film, Art Car: The Movie, was made by Houston filmmakers Ford Gunter and Carlton Ahrens. It follows artist and educator Rebecca Bass and her high school class as they prepare an entry for the 2010 Houston Art Car Parade.
In addition, the Houston Art Car Parade Website will have access to slide shows, videos, and other resources for the curious and inspired to learn more about art cars and the artists behind them.

Events will be broadcast on Facebook Live, HTV (Houston’s Public Access Channel, available on Comcast Ch. 16, AT&T U-Verse Ch. 99, Phonoscope Ch. 73 & 99, and Suddenlink Ch. 14), and ABC-13 KTRK.

Throughout the weekend, the Orange Show Center for Visionary Art will also be accepting donations to assist the organization in continuing to produce the Houston Art Car Parade Weekend.
Individuals can make a donation by texting ARTCAR to 44-321 and may make a donation of any amount.
