Houston comes alive at night, with dives, cocktail bars, and nightclubs dotting the city. In our Houston Nightlife: Best Bars, we’ll cover the best night owl watering holes in each neighborhood.

Located on the northwest side of 610, the neighborhood of Independence Heights may be small, but it packs a mighty punch. The old-school hood offers a taste of nostalgia with spots like Barbecue Inn, Esther’s Cajun Cafe & Soul Food, and there are cool breweries and other nearby watering holes for a taste of what’s now.

Note: For the purposes of this list, Independence Heights is covered by this map.
