- Lunar New Year Festivals Around Houston – Celebrate Chinese New Year at a variety of festivities happening around the city to ring in the Year of the Rat. Prices, times, and locations vary.
- Texas Children’s Hospital Presents: Art in the Park at Evelyn’s Park | FREE – Bring the kids to a family-friendly art class as Texas Children’s Hospital presents Art in the Park at Evelyn’s Park in Bellaire. 10am to noon.
- 2020 Lunar New Year Festival at Chinese Community Center of Houston | No Cover – Ring in the Year of the Rat with dragon and lion dances, local artists, food, games, and cultural performances at the Chinese Community Center’s annual Lunar New Year Festival. 10am to 4pm.
- Houston Dynamo Fan Fest 2020 at BBVA Stadium | FREE – Dynamo fans can get together and enjoy a number of exclusive Dynamo experiences as preparation for the 2020 season opener vs. LA Galaxy. The Fan Fest will feature a Dynamo charities fire sale, photos of championship trophies, Dynamo players in attendance, and other family-friendly activities. Noon.
- Galveston Museum Day – Enjoy free and discounted admission to historic landmarks and local museums across Galveston throughout Galveston Museum Day 2020. Prices and times vary by location.
- Skate with Storybook Stars at The Ice at Discovery Green – Bring the kids to ice skate alongside popular characters like Elsa from Frozen, Spiderman and more on The Ice at Discovery Green. General admission is $11; $4 for skate rental fee. 4pm to 6pm.
- WWE Worlds Collide at Toyota Center – Get ready to rumble as WWE NXT battle it out with NXT UK in WWE Worlds Collide at Toyota Center. Competitors include Adam Cole and The Undisputed Era, Shayna Baszler, Walter & Imperium, Kay Lee Ray and more. Tickets start at $20, but you may find better or cheaper seats using the TicketNetwork online marketplace. 5:30pm.
- Defending the Defenseless at Archway Gallery – FAUSA Houston and Love People Not Pixels present Defending the Defenseless, an evening dedicated to ending human trafficking in Houston. January is National Slavery and Human Trafficking Prevention Month. Representatives from the FBI Human Trafficking Task Force will lead a discussion on ending Houston’s scourge. Tickets are $20. 6:45pm to 8:45pm.
- Trey Anastasio in Concert at House of Blues – Jam out to a live show by the celebrated guitarist, singer, songwriter, and composer, Trey Anastasio, when he takes the stage at House of Blues. Tickets start at $49.50, but you may find cheaper or better seats on TicketNetwork’s resale site. 7pm.
- Monster Jam at NRG Stadium – Get revved up for a high-energy showcase of massive trucks crushing, ramming, crashing, and soaring through the air at NRG Stadium. Tickets start at $15, but you may find better or cheaper seats using the TicketNetwork online marketplace. 7pm.
- 5th Annual Whiskey in the Winter at Yellow Rose Distilling – Sip award-winning whiskeys while enjoying live music, savory bites, and tours of the Yellow Rose distillery during the 5th Annual Whiskey in the Winter fundraising event. Tickets start at $100; $75 for designated drivers. 7pm to 10pm.
- Venezuelan Folkways at MATCH – Bask in the sounds of the Latin Grammy-winning violinist, Eddy Marcano, when the Apollo Chamber Players present a concert of Venezuelan folk music at MATCH. Tickets are $35 in advance; $40 at the door. $10 for students with ID. 7:30pm.
- Branford Marsalis in Concert at Wortham Theater Center – Enjoy a concert by a Grammy Award-winning saxophonist and Tony Award nominee when Da Camera welcomes Branford Marsalis to the stage of Wortham Theater Center. Tickets start at $42.50. 8pm.
- Phora in Concert at White Oak Music Hall – Catch a concert by Anaheim rapper Phora as he makes a stop in Houston in support of his third studio release, Bury Me With Dead Roses. Tickets are $25, but you may find better or cheaper seats using the TicketNetwork online marketplace. 8pm.

- Bitches Who Brunch at Prohibition Supperclub & Bar – Grab a girlfriend and head to Prohibition for brunch and a show from the Moonlight Dolls. $25; limited discounted $15 tickets available. 11am.
- The Quince Expo at NRG Arena – Plan your teen’s perfect Quinceañera at this annual expo at NRG Arena. Attendees will be able to meet with photographers, videographers, DJs, caterers, bakeries, florists and more. Tickets are $12 in advance; $15 at the door. Kids 10 and under get in free. Noon to 6pm.
- FOTP Lunar New Year Festival & Fried Rice Cook-Off at The Phoenix on Westheimer – The third annual Lunar New Year Festival and Fried Rice Cook-Off welcomes the Year of the Rat with a competition for the best fried rice, inspired by many international and ethnic backgrounds. There will be games, a money tree, kids’ activities, and more. Tickets start at $10 for 6 sampling tickets; VIP tickets are $25. Noon to 5pm.
- 13th Annual One Pot Showdown at Saint Arnold Brewery – Compete—or just eat—at Saint Arnold’s thirteenth annual One Pot Showdown, which challenges participants to cook up their best recipe while incorporating Saint Arnold beer as an ingredient. Tickets include food samples of every dish and unlimited brews. Ticket price is $40. 1pm to 4pm.
- WWE Royal Rumble 2020 at Minute Maid Park – For the first time since 1989, the WWE’s Royal Rumble returns to Houston at Minute Maid Park. The competition features thirty wrestlers who duke it out until there’s only one contestant left. Tickets range from $20 to $700, but you may find better, cheaper, or hard-to-get seats using the TicketNetwork online marketplace. 5pm.
- Kinetic Ensemble presents Flight + Fugue: A Special Fifth Anniversary Concert at MATCH – Join Kinetic Ensemble to celebrate their fifth anniversary with an evening performance featuring the Houston premieres of Patrick Harlin’s “The Art of Flight” and Lawrence Dillon’s String Quartet No. 2, “Flight,” at MATCH. Tickets are $30; $20 for ages 62 and up; $15 with valid student I.D. 6pm.
