- Houston Cougars vs. Temple Owls at Fertitta Center | Wednesday, January 8 – Ahead of their Saturday night road game against top-ranked UCONN, the women’s basketball squad from UH will get a shot at Temple from Philadelphia. Tickets range from $8 to $15, but you may find better or cheaper seats using the TicketNetwork online marketplace. 7pm.
- HTXO Full Moon Hike at Memorial Park | Thursday, January 9 – HTX Outdoors invites other adults to a night hike in Memorial Park under a full moon. To participate, bring a headlamp or light source, water, bug spray, long pants, and sturdy shoes that can get a little muddy. Stick around with the group after the hike to grab a bite to eat and make new friends. Tickets for entry are $5. 7pm to 8:30pm.
- ChocoLoco 5K at Sam Houston Park in Downtown | Saturday, January 11 – Chocoholics are welcome to savor this sweet tooth run in Downtown with lengths of 5K and 10K, as well as a Kids 1K, complete with post-race hot cocoa, chocolate fountains, live music and more. Registration is $45 for the 5K, $50 for the 10K, $15 for the Kids 1K. Race day registration is not available. Events begin at 7:30am.
- Houston Rockets vs. Minnesota Timberwolves at Toyota Center | Saturday, January 11 – Prepare for landing at Toyota Center when the Rockets host a Space City-themed James Harden bobblehead night, as the league’s leading scorer continues his historic run with a game against the Minnesota Timberwolves. Tickets range from $29 to over $1,000, but you may find better or cheaper seats using the TicketNetwork online marketplace. 4pm.
