- Obsidian Theater presents Empanada Loca at MATCH | Daily – Discover the colorful history of Dolores in Empanada Loca, a stage play that’s loosely inspired by the legend of Sweeney Todd and presented by Obsidian Theater at MATCH. - Ghost Tours at the 1859 Ashton Villa | Thursday to Saturday – Get chills and join a guide for a Ghost Tour at the 1859 Ashton Villa just in time for Halloween in Galveston. Take part in a rare and unprecedented tour of the home as you hear about the early days of Galveston’s formation and exceptional life, and possible after-life, of the home’s Miss Bettie Brown. Tickets are $30. 7pm and 8:15pm each day.
- Lantern Tours of the 1892 Bishop’s Palace | Thursday to Saturday – Explore the nooks and crannies of Galveston’s beloved 1892 Bishop’s Palace with a lantern in hand. Learn all about the history of the Gresham family and the house itself at this rare guided tour of the National Historic Landmark located in the East End Historic District in Galveston. Tickets are $30. 7pm and 7:30pm each day.
- The Rocky Horror Show at Art Factory | Friday to Sunday – Do the “Time Warp” again as the cult classic horror musical returns to the Docks. Prop bags (including toilet paper, water guns, noise makers, and more are available for purchase to make the show more interactive. Tickets are $25, but limited discounted tickets are available starting at $12.50. Showtimes vary.
- Zoo Boo at Houston Zoo | Friday to Sunday – Bring your trick-or-treaters to an evening of pumpkin patch photo shoots, costume parades, and plenty of sweets as the Houston Zoo presents its annual Zoo Boo Halloween celebration. Included with zoo admission. Times vary.
- Pecong at Midtown Art Center | Friday to Sunday – Watch a production of JPETE Theatre Company’s final show of their 2019 season, Pecong, at Midtown Art Center. The year is 1890, and on a mythical Caribbean island, Mediyah is a high priestess of “science and healing,” of prodigious magical power, imparted to her by the ghost of her grandmother, the Great Granny Root. After Mediyah falls in love with Jason, she surrenders her sorcery and enslaves herself to merely mortal desire. Tickets are $22 in advance and $25 at the door. Showtimes vary.
- Freaky Deaky at Houston Raceway | Saturday and Sunday – Replacing the former Something Wicked Festival of years past, Freaky Deaky features a full day of EDM, house, hip hop, and other edgy genres. Crazy and creepy Halloween costumes are strongly encouraged. Performers include Armin Van Buuren, Steve Aoki, AC Slater, and more. Full price tickets start at $101.09 for single day tickets; $173.75 for both days, but limited discounted tickets start at $75 for single day tickets. 2pm to midnight.
- Art at Discovery Green | Saturday and Sunday | FREE – Scope out the work of more than 70 artists displaying their offerings in the heart of Downtown Houston along the Avenida de las Americas and Maconda’s Grove in Discovery Green. 10am to 5pm both days.
- 3rd Annual Artumn Fest at CityCentre | Saturday and Sunday | FREE – Browse through a selection of artistic vendors, take advantage of Instagrammable backdrops from Arts by Aaron, and listen to live music at this two-day festival that showcases Houston’s own artists, painters, illustrators, hand-crafters, and designers in CityCentre. - 38th Annual Island Oktoberfest at First Lutheran Church in Galveston | Saturday and Sunday | FREE – Enjoy live entertainment, authentic German food and drink, a cake wheel, shopping, a live auction, and children’s activities during the 38th annual, family-friendly Island Oktoberfest in Galveston.
