  • 5th Annual Heights Kids’ Day of Music Festival at Love Park | FREE Teach your kids about all things music during Heights Kids’ Day of Music at Love Park. Kids can touch, feel, and play a variety of band and orchestra instruments at the “petting zoo,” then meet with members of Opera in the Heights to learn what it takes to be a professional opera singer. 10am to 2pm.
  • Hire Houston Youth On-the-Spot Hiring Event at HISD Hattie Mae White Building | FREE Help your favorite young person (ages 16 to 24) find a job on the same day at a special hiring event, featuring employers including Metro, United Airlines, KPMG, Hyatt Regency, and more. 10am to 2pm.
  • Katy Taste Fest at Villagio Town Center Sample a variety of delicious eats and beverages, brush up on your chef skills with a lineup of cooking demonstrations, listen to live music, and entertain the kids at Katy Taste Fest, an annual culinary event that showcases some of Houston’s top restaurants and chefs at Villagio Town Center. Tickets start at $15. 11am.
  • Love & Make’s DIY Jewelry Making Workshop in Rice Village Create a custom piece of beautiful jewelry during a DIY class led by jewelry designer and shop owner Tanya Bagashka. During the class, Bagashka will demonstrate 13th-Century Arabic knotting techniques that you’ll then use to craft a pair of colorful, macrame earrings. $55. 11am.
  • Houston Holi: The Festival of Colors at Crown Festival Park Celebrate India’s harvest season with a lively festival of food, dancing, Bollywood music, carnival rides, and of course, blasts of multicolored powder. Headlining the festival is Mickey Singh, an Indian-born American singer, songwriter, producer, dancer, model, and actor. Tickets are $12; $15 the day of the festival. Noon to 5pm.
  • Brew on the Bayou at Gulf Coast Bird Observatory Drink beer and save local bird populations when the Gulf Coast Bird Observatory presents its second annual Brew on the Bayou event in Lake Jackson. You can sample specialty beers from local breweries taste wines, listen to live music, nosh on food truck eats, and bid on items in the silent auction. Tickets start at $20. 4pm.
  • Boots and Black Belts Gala at Royal Sonesta Hotel Houston Kick back and celebrate the many accomplishments of Kickstart Kids, a local in-school program that teaches children to build character through karate, at the twenty-sixth annual Boots and Black Belts Gala at the Royal Sonesta Hotel. Tickets start at $5,000. 6pm.
  • Wizard of Oz Movie Screening at Discovery Green | FREE Dress up as your favorite character and snap a photo with the Wicked Witch of the West before watching a free screening of the Wizard of Oz in honor of its eightieth anniversary at Discovery Green. 6:15pm.
  • Theatre Under The Stars 50th Anniversary Season Gala at The Post Oak at Uptown Houston Enjoy an awe-inspiring performance by special guest Idina Menzel while honoring past board chairs and presidents at Theatre Under The Stars’ 50th Anniversary Season Gala in The Post Oak at Uptown. Tickets start at $3,000. 6:30pm.
  • Houston Cocktail Fest at Silver Street StudiosTaste a variety of unique adult beverages at Houston Cocktail Fest, which features a touring cocktail experience that brings together several award-winning mixologists to serve up a selection of tasty concoctions. Tickets start at $55.  7pm to 11pm.
  • Shake, Stir, Sip: A Craft Cocktail Experience at Silver Street Studios Treat yourself to a fun unique cocktail fest at Shake Stir Sip, an international touring cocktail experience based in Houston and curated with award-winning mixologists. Tickets range from $55 to $150. 7pm to 11pm.
  • Muddfest 2019 at Warehouse Live Muddfest returns with a live show by headliners Puddle of Mudd, Saliva, and Trapt, along with opening acts Saving Abel and Tantric at Warehouse Live. Tickets start at $25. 7pm.
  • Mark C. Austin’s Birthday Charity Concert at The Heights Theater Celebrate the birthday of Houston’s own Mark C. Austin with a special party and charity concert at The Heights Theater. The concert will feature live music from the New Orleans-based Dumpstaphunk, with proceeds benefiting Life Gift of Houston. Tickets start at $18. 7pm.
  • Death Grips in Concert at White Oak Music Hall – Head to White Oak Music Hall’s downstairs stage for a concert by experimental hip hop group Death Grips, hailing from Sacramento. Tickets start at $25, but you may find cheaper or better seats on TicketNetwork’s resale site. 8pm.
  • Ivan Amodei’s Secrets & Illusions at The Hobby Center Marvel at the mysteries of illusionist Ivan Amodei’s thought-provoking show, which takes audiences on a 90-minute journey through his signature vignettes, incorporating audience participation and storytelling. Tickets start at $54. 4pm and 8pm.
  • Mark Guiliana Space Heroes at Wortham Theater Center Feel the beat as Da Camera presents a live show by Mark Guiliana, who was recognized as the best jazz drummer by readers of the publication, Modern Drummer. Tickets start at $37.50. 8pm.
