Honor the Lunar New Year at parties, festivals, and events around Houston from Saturday, February 2 to Saturday, February 16, 2019.

Celebrated throughout Asian countries and throughout Houston, the arrival of this year’s Lunar New Year marks the close of the Year of the Dog and the arrival of the Year of the Pig.

Saturday, February 2, 2019

  • Texas Lunar Festival | FREE – Celebrate the Year of the Pig at this festival with dance performances, a fashion show, martial arts performances, vendors, food trucks and more in front of the Southern News Group Building on Bellaire. 10am to 5pm.
  • Lunar New Year Bash 2019 at the Children’s Museum of Houston – Become immersed in Houston’s diverse Asian heritage and celebrate the Year of the Pig at the Lunar New Year Bash at The Children’s Museum of Houston. Activities include origami, lei making, and performances by Lavang Lion Dancers. Included with general admission to the museum. 9am to 5pm.

  • Chinese New Year Celebration at Lucky Land | FREE – Celebrate the Year of the Pig with the whole family at the Chinese New Year Celebration at Lucky Land. All visitors will receive a red envelope for good luck and can enjoy a lion dance, a dragon parade, Kung Fu shows, and a costume contest. 10am to 6pm.

  • 2019 Lunar New Year Festival at Chinese Community Center | FREE – Celebrate the Year of the Pig at the annual family-friendly 2019 Lunar New Year Festival at the Chinese Community Center. The festival will feature local food vendors, information booths, cultural performances, craft activities for the whole family and more. 10am to 4pm.
  • Lunar New Year Houston 2019 at Viet Hoa Center | FREE – This two-day outdoor festival and market will feature lions and dragons in performance along with live music, food, and local vendors to ring in the Year of the Pig. Guests are invited to this celebration of Asian cultures represented in Houston, including Vietnamese, Chinese, Korean, Japanese, Cambodian, Filipino and more. 10am to 6pm.
  • Family Day: Lunar New Year at Asia Society Texas Center | FREE – Welcome the Year of the Pig with performances, art and craft activities, and food inspired by Lunar New Year traditions across Asia at Asia Society Texas Center. Noon to 4pm.

  • Lunar New Year Houston 2019 at Viet Hoa Center | FREE – This two-day outdoor festival and market will feature lions and dragons in performances along with live music, food, and local vendors to ring in the Year of the Pig. Guests are invited to this celebration of Asian cultures represented in Houston, including Vietnamese, Chinese, Korean, Japanese, Cambodian, Filipino and more. 10am to 6pm.
  • Asia Society Lunar New Year at The Galleria | FREE – The Asia Society Texas Center celebrates the Year of the Pig with a special Lunar New Year celebration at The Galleria. There will be arts and crafts activities, games, and exciting performances for the whole family to enjoy. Noon.
