- Houston Rockets vs. Shanghai Sharks at Toyota Center | Tuesday, October 9 – Preseason wraps up at home for the Rockets and this game against Yao Ming’s Shanghai Sharks makes for one of the most budget-friendly games of the year. Get a look at Chris Paul, James Harden, and Carmelo Anthony before the season tips off on October 17. Tickets start at $10 up to $1,500, but you may find better or cheaper seats using the TicketNetwork online marketplace. 7pm.
- Memorial Hermann 10 for Texas at Northshore Park | Saturday, October 13 – Race through a 5K or 10-mile course at the thirteenth annual Memorial Hermann 10 for Texas run. Other runs include a 10-mile Wheelchair Division and the One 4 Texas Kids’ Fun Run, all followed by a post-race party with food, music, and family-friendly fun. Registration starts at $35. 7am.
- Houston Texans vs. Buffalo Bills at NRG Stadium | Sunday, October 14 – The Bills are off to another rough start in the new NFL season and the Texans look to capitalize for a desperately needed victory. Ticket range from $33 to over $450, but you may find better or cheaper seats using the TicketNetwork resale marketplace. Noon.
- USPA H.Ben Taub Memorial Cup at Houston Polo Club | Sunday, October 14 – The Houston Polo Club hosts a match as two teams compete for the USPA H.Ben Taub Memorial Cup. There will also be live flamenco guitar music throughout the match, the American National halftime champagne divot stomp at halftime, the McDugald Steele pony hops, and door prizes. Grandstand seats range from $15 to $695; tickets to the Red Oak Lawn are $30 online ($35 at the gate); $15 for ages 12 and under. 4pm.
