- Havel Ruck Projects’ Open House at Sam Houston Park in Downtown | FREE | Daily – Step inside the latest public art installation in Downtown. The small purple bungalow has been peppered with Swiss cheese-like holes, providing unique perspectives of Downtown, City Hall, and the neighboring dwellings of Sam House Park. - Texas Playwright Festival at Stages Repertory Theatre | Daily – Sit back and enjoy three plays—Que Será, Giant Monster; Ganymede; and Montgomery—at the Texas Playwright Festival, presented by Wordsmyth Theater. Each play features two readings followed by audience feedback, which is then received and implemented by the playwright, who is given one day for revisions. $20. Showtimes vary.
- Apply to Participate in the Juried Art Show Pearland Arts & Crafts on the Pavilion | Daily – The popular annual art and crafts show is coming up in the fall, but regional artists and artisans are invited to apply now for both the show and to sell their custom creations at the highly attended event.
- God’s Favorite at The George Theater | Daily – Take a seat for A.D. Players’ production of God’s Favorite, which presents Neil Simon’s reimagining of the Bible’s Book of Job, at George Theater. Tickets start at $15, but limited premium $50 seats are discounted to $25 for select shows. Showtimes vary.
- The Great American Trailer Park Musical at Stages Repertory Theatre | Daily – One of the most requested musicals in Stages Repertory Theatre history returns for the company’s 40th anniversary season. The show boasts tacky outfits, crude language, adultery, road kill, electrocution, and spray cheese. $25 to $68, but limited standard tickets (normally $42) are discounted to $21 for select shows. Showtimes vary.
- The Catastrophic Theatre presents The Tamarie Cooper Show: Field Trip! at MATCH | Daily – Hop on board a metaphysical field trip with Tamarie Cooper, a local actress and playwright known for her hilarious musical theatre. In Field Trip, Cooper questions the meaning of life and unpacks personal baggage by way of song, gags, and hi-jinx. Tickets start at $10. Showtimes vary.
- Bill Burr at Revention Music Center | Thursday and Friday – Crack up at a hilarious show from stand-up comedian, actor, writer, and podcaster Bill Burr when he takes the mic at Revention Music Center. Tickets start at $48. 7pm nightly.
- Holmes and Watson at the Alley Theatre | Friday and Saturday – Crack codes and solve mysteries during this Sherlock Holmes adventure presented by the Alley Theatre. The performance follows Holmes’ trusty sidekick, Watson, as he seeks the true story of Holmes’ death three years prior. Tickets start at $26. 8pm nightly.
- Party on the Plaza at Sugar Land Town Square | FREE | Friday to Sunday – Live it up while checking out the newly renovated and enhanced Sugar Land Town Square at a series of three events this weekend. NOLA Nights kicks things off on Friday evening with New Orleans music and tasty bites available to purchase. On Saturday evening, a Summer Luau will showcase live music from a JimmyBuffett cover band, hula lessons, and tropical drinks for sale. Finally, Sunday wraps up with a free yoga class with Revolution Yoga Studio on the plaza. Times vary.
- Houston Shakespeare Festival at Miller Outdoor Theatre | FREE | Friday to Sunday – Thou shalt enjoy a free performance of Shakespearean plays during the 44th Houston Shakespeare Festival at Miller Outdoor Theatre. You can watch Hamlet on Friday and Sunday, and The Comedy of Errors Saturday evening. 8:15pm nightly.
- Houston Astros vs. Texas Rangers at Minute Maid Park | Friday to Sunday – Get loud for the Astros when they take the field to play the Rangers in a home game at Minute Maid Park. Tickets start at $14, but you may find cheaper or better seats on TicketNetwork’s resale site. Times vary.
- Feeling Groovy 4 at Music Box Theater | Friday to Sunday – Groove on down to your favorite tunes from the ‘60s and ‘70s when Music Box Theater presents Feeling Groovy 4, an all-new musical featuring songs by Simon & Garfunkel, Fleetwood Mac, Glen Campbell, Diana Ross, The Carpenters, The Bee Gees, and Barbra Streisand.
