Kick back and enjoy a free, outdoor concert from the HSPVA Jazz Band at The Water Works at Buffalo Bayou Park on Saturday evening, May 19, 2018 from 6:30pm to 9pm.
Fans of jazz, live music, and Downtown sunsets are invited to shake off their week at this free jazz concert featuring the HSPVA Jazz Band and other talented musicians.
All ages are welcome and blankets for the lawn are highly encouraged. Food trucks will be on site, plus the grown ups will be glad to find beer and wine available for purchase.
The line-up features saxophonist Grady Gaines (who has recorded with icons like Little Richard and Sam Cooke), vocalist Trudy Lynn, and the 14-piece ThunderSoul Orchestra.
ThunderSoul Orchestra is comprised of talented former Kashmere High School students of Conrad Johnson, and was the subject of a 2011 documentary film.
The Bayou City Music Series
A new concert series presented by the Kinder Foundation, the Bayou City Music Series honors Houston’s great jazz, blues and zydeco musicians with a series a free concerts.
The performances have bee taking place this spring at three landmark Houston parks—Discovery Green, Emancipation Park and The Water Works in Buffalo Bayou Park. This is the final of the three concerts.
The series will return to the three parks in the fall.
