Raise funds and awareness around HIV/AIDS prevention in Houston at the annual AIDS Walk 5k starting at Sam Houston Park on Sunday, March 4, 2018.
Come out to Sam Houston Park for the 29th annual AIDS Walk Houston – a non-competitive 5k that raises awareness and funds for 13 HIV/AIDS service organizations in the Houston area.
The 5k course begins and ends at Sam Houston Park in Downtown, with a loop down Allen Parkway.
Close to 10,000 Houstonians are expected to walk in honor of friends and family, celebrate those who are living full lives with the virus, and raise funds for the work that still needs to be done.
While race registration is free, participants are encouraged to fundraise in preparation for race day. To register, click here.
Funds from this event provide education, pediatric programs, housing, food, medical care, counseling and job training to almost 30,000 Houstonians currently living with HIV/AIDS. Benefitting agencies for the 2018 walk include: AIDS Foundation Houston, Inc., Avenue 360 Health & Wellness, Baylor Teen Health Clinic, Brentwood Community Foundation, Change Happens, Fundacion Latinoamericana De Accion Social, Harris County Hospital District Foundation, Individuals Providing A Positive Presence-IPPP, Lazarus House, LIVE Consortium, Resurrection MCC, The T.R.U.T.H. Project and the University of Houston LGBTQ Resource Center.
“Rock the Walk” Concert & Finish Line Party
Stick around after you walk for a free post-race festival complete with live entertainment from local musicians and food trucks.
The outdoor “Rock the Walk” concert and finish line party will start at 2pm and feature a lineup of Houston-based performers including rappers Bun B and Paul Wall, genre-crossing band Los Skarnales, and DJ Gracie Chavez.
