Stick around after the 29th Annual AIDS Walk for the “Rock the Walk” concert and finish line party at Sam Houston Park on Sunday, March 4, 2018.
Come out to Sam Houston Park to support HIV programs in the community at a non-competitive 5k followed by the “Rock the Walk” concert and finish line party.
Start the afternoon by walking alongside 10,000 fellow Houstonians to remember friends and family, celebrate those who are living full lives with the virus, and raise funds for the work that still needs to be done.
A lineup of local artists will be waiting at the finish line to perform a three-hour outdoor concert, and you can get VIP passes for free.
Starting at 2pm, you’ll hear music from Houston-based rappers Bun B and Paul Wall, genre-crossing band Los Skarnales, and DJ Gracie Chavez. There’s no cover, so bring your friends.
Food trucks Moon Rooster, El Topo Truck, KicPops, and The Waffle Bus will be on site if you get hungry.
Free VIP Wristbands
You can score a VIP wristband – for free – by getting an HIV test at a participating location during the month of February. Tests are also free and available at a number of locations. Hurry though, there are only 1,500 VIP passes available and they’re not available for purchase.
What’s included? You’ll get access to the VIP lounge and viewing area, drinks from Starbucks, and bites from FM Kitchen and Bar.
2018 AIDS Walk Houston
Organized by AIDS Foundation Houston, and now in its 29th year, AIDS Walk Houston benefits 13 local HIV/AIDS service organizations. There’s no fee to register for the non-competitive 5k, but all “racers” are encouraged to raise money for the roster of benefiting agencies.
Funds from this event provide education, pediatric programs, housing, food, medical care, counseling, and job training through 13 local organizations to almost 30,000 Houstonians currently living with HIV/AIDS.
Benefitting agencies for the 2018 walk include: AIDS Foundation Houston, Avenue 360 Health & Wellness, Baylor Teen Health Clinic, Brentwood Community Foundation, Change Happens, Fundacion Latinoamericana De Accion Social, Inc., Harris County Hospital District Foundation, Individuals Providing A Positive Presence-IPPP, Lazarus House, LIVE Consortium, Resurrection MCC, The T.R.U.T.H.
