Let the good times roll at the 4th Annual Mardi Gras on Main, a free, family-friendly street festival at Five Points Park in La Porte by the Bay on Saturday, February 17, 2018, from 4pm to 9pm.

With Curley Taylor and Zydeco Trouble leading the way, this free celebration will channel New Orleans with a giant puppet King and Queen strolling the streets, stilt walkers, face painters, a New Orleans-style market, street performers, unicyclists and much more.

Planning on participating in the fun and not looking to drive home after? Make sure you check out the hotels options available in La Porte.

Music on Main

All the way from Louisiana, Curley Taylor and Zydeco Trouble has played major festivals including Rhythm and Roots in Ninigret, RI, the Waterfront Blues Festival in Portland, OR, and Jazz Fest in New Orleans.

His music is true to its roots in Zydeco and Blues, but contemporary enough to appeal to most all music lovers. Make sure to get your seats early as they will be taking the stage at 4pm.

Stick around after Curley Taylor for The Mambo Jazz Kings, who will be taking the stage at 7pm. The band has an outstanding rhythm section, a powerful horn ensemble, and three vocalists that will keep you moving. And look out for a special appearance by Weasel and New Era Zydeco.

New to Mardi Gras on Main

Grab your umbrellas, glue guns, and accessories and get to decorating.

A new addition to this year’s event includes the March to Mardi Gras Umbrella Parade and this will be the biggest Second Line La Porte has ever seen. There will even be prizes for the best themed umbrella groups.

If that weren’t enough, grab your friends or co-workers, create a team, nominate a team captain, and compete in games including giant (not)beer pong, trike race, toilet seat toss, a king cake eating contest, and the 1K beer run.

Food Truck Court & Craft Beer Garden

A food truck court will be provided for hungry festival goers, featuring favorites Nom Mi Street, Kona Ice, Bayou City Eats, The Burger Joint, Texasiana Famous Food, Cousins Maine Lobster, and even a snow cone truck, king cake vendor, and crawfish being sold by the Rotary Club of La Porte.

Not to be outdone, Brigadoon Brewery has once again curated the Mardi Gras Craft Beer Garden. In addition to their own beers, the garden will feature brews from local favorites including Back Pew, Buffalo Bayou Brewing, Cyclers Brewing, Eureka Heights, Karbach Brewing, Galveston Island Brewing Co, Lone Pint Brewery, No Label Brewing Co, Saint Arnolds, Southern Star Brewing Company and Saloon Door Brewing.

VIP passes to the Craft Beer Garden area limited, so click here to purchase yours today.

Free Family Friendly Fun

Far from a raucous Bourbon Street scene, Mardi Gras on main is appropriate for all ages.

Kids will enjoy the giant 9-foot-tall King and Queen Jester leading the event, street entertainers, Mardi Gras-themed stilt walkers, jugglers, face painting, inflatable Alligator and Aqua Twist slides, balloonists, a Kid’s Craft Zone and more.
