  • Hello Trees! at Discovery Green | Daily | FREE – Stroll through Discovery Green’s temporary art installation Hello Trees! and watch/listen as your voice message is transformed into light and music.
  • Zoo Lights at Houston Zoo | Daily Explore the Houston Zoo at night while millions of lights illuminate the various exhibits in this annual tradition. Tickets start at $11.95. Thursday 6pm to 10pm; Friday to Sunday 6pm to 11pm.
  • The Ice at Discovery Green | Daily – Lace up your skates and take to The Ice rink at Discovery Green to show off your moves. $14 to rent skates. Thursday 5pm to 10pm; Friday 5pm to 11pm; Saturday 11am to 11pm; Sunday 11am to 8pm.
  • A Christmas Carol: A Ghost Story of Christmas at the Alley Theatre | Thursday to Saturday See the Alley Theatre’s rendition of Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol at Hubbard Theatre. Tickets start at $26. Thursday 7:30pm; Friday and Saturday 2:30pm and 7:30pm.
  • Musical Movie Week at Memorial City | Thursday to Saturday | FREE Bring the whole fam out to Memorial City for a free screening of some of your favorite musical movies all weekend long. See The Lion King on Thursday, Frozen on Friday, and Moana on Saturday. 7pm nightly.
  • Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets Concert at Jones Hall | Friday and Saturday – Scenes from Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets will project while The Houston Symphony plays the score at Jones Hall. Tickets start at $25. Friday 7:30pm; Saturday 2:30pm and 7:30pm.
  • Disney Live: Mickey & Minnie’s Doorway to Magic at NRG | Saturday and Sunday Get tickets to see Mickey and Minnie Mouse live at NRG in their Doorway to Magic show as part of Disney Live. Tickets start at $20. Saturday 1pm, 4pm, and 7pm; Sunday noon and 3pm.
  • Houston Ballet’s The Nutcracker at Hobby Center | Saturday and Monday – Don’t miss the holiday tradition of the Houston Ballet’s production of The Nutcracker. This classic will have a new home this year, thanks to Harvey, but you can catch it at the Hobby Center. Tickets start at $35, but you may find cheaper or better seats on TicketNetwork’s resale marketplace. 2pm and 7:30pm both days.
  • No DWI – Free Sober Rides on New Year’s Eve | Sunday and Monday – Make the right choice to take a taxi or use a ride-sharing service to get home if you’ve been drinking, pay for it up front, and the law firm Sutliff & Stout will reimburse you for it via PayPal. Sunday 5pm to Monday 10am.
