The 24th Annual TransCanada Theater District Open House is an annual festival for avid supporters of the arts and newcomers of all ages. The daytime event previews what’s to come in the 2017-2018 season with free behind-the-scenes experiences, performance previews and interactive activities, as well as special ticket offers.
Love The Nutcracker? The Houston Ballet will have characters in costume in the Grand Foyer of The Wortham. Want to hear the Houston Symphony perform live? They’re putting on a free concert at 4pm. Care to sing along to showtunes? Broadway at the Hobby Center will present a musical revue featuring songs from the upcoming season.
The kiddos can get in on the fun by stopping by the Houston Symphony’s instrument petting zoo, taking a creative movement class from Houston Ballet Academy instructors or listening to HGOco Storybook Opera readings. They can even get creative with arts and crafts including screen printing and mask making.
Arts organizations participating in Theater District Open House include: Alley Theatre, BBVA Compass Broadway at the Hobby Center, Da Camera of Houston, Houston Ballet, Houston Grand Opera, Houston Symphony, Society for the Performing Arts, Theatre Under The Stars and Uniquely Houston.
