Cinco de Mayo, Friday, May 5, 2017

  • Cinco de Mayo at Eight Row Flint – Snag specials on tacos, margaritas, palomas, and Mexican beer in honor of Cinco de Mayo at Eight Row Flint. Noon to 2am.
  • Cinco de Mayo at Historic Market Square | FREE – Dance to music from a lineup of four bands, including Mexican Blackbird and Gio Chamba, at Market Square Park to celebrate the holiday. 6pm.
  • Midtown Wine Down in Bagby Park – Unwind at Midtown’s monthly happy hour in Bagby Park featuring music by Grupo Vida and happy hour specials on food and drinks from Rico’s Morning Noon Night. 5pm to 8pm.
  • Etched Pint Glass Craft Workshop at Rest & Rec – BYOB to this craft workshop where you’ll learn the art of glass etching and go home with a custom pint glass. $28. 7pm to 9pm.
  • 12,000 Degreez: Comedy, Rap Battle, and Karaoke Triathlon at The Secret Group – Hosted by local comedy kings Mycal Dédé and Zach Dickson, this month’s show will feature a battle between Houston’s own Chase Durousseau and Rich Williams. As an audience member, you’ll be voting to help decide the champion in what’s sure to be an unforgettable Cinco de Mayo celebration in the heart of EaDo. Comedian Andy Huggins is set to open the show and at the end of the show there will be a special performance from Hoja Lopez. Tickets at the door are $10, but you can score 2-for-1 tickets ($10 total) with promocode 36CINCO.  7:30pm.
  • Cinco de Mayo at Miller Outdoor Theatre | FREE – Enjoy live music by Tlen-Huicani & Villalobos Brothers in celebration of Cinco de Mayo at Miller Outdoor Theatre. 7:30pm.
  • Madame Butterfly at The Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion – Watch the Houston Ballet perform Madame Butterfly under the stars in The Woodlands. Select seats are free. 8pm.
  • Vijay Iyer in Concert at The Wortham Center – Pianist and composer Vijay Iyer will join the International Contemporary Ensemble for this concert and film experience inspired by the Hindu Holi festival of colors at the Wortham. Tickets start at $37.50, not including ticket fees. 8pm.
  • Sing Screening at Discovery Green | FREE – Lay out on the lawn and watch a free screening of the animated film Sing at Discovery Green. 8:30pm.
