- Sex Tips for Straight Women From a Gay Man at Alley Theatre | Friday to Sunday – The buttoned-up moderator of a local university’s “Meet the Author” event gets a far more interesting education than she bargained for when the writer of the best-seller Sex Tips for Straight Women From a Gay Man decides to provide a hands-on seminar right there on the spot. Based on the actual book of the same name, this titillating off-Broadway comedy offers loads of audience interaction. Tickets are $37 and $57, but limited discounted $18.50 tickets are available. - Galveston Island Food & Wine Festival at Galveston Island Convention Center | Friday to Sunday – Wine and dine at this annual event featuring a champagne brunch, food and wine sampling events, a 5k champagne run, blind tasting and more. Tickets start at $98, not including ticket fees. Hours vary.
- Bernie’s Backyard Crawfish Festival at Bernie’s Backyard | Friday to Sunday – Head to Spring for this family-friendly crawfish festival featuring face painting, live music, cold brews, shaved ice, a playground, and lots of crawfish. Hours vary.
- Cinco de Mayo Weekend at El Big Bad | Friday to Sunday – Party all weekend at El Big Bad where they’ll be serving liquid nitrogen margaritas and you can sample tequila, try their new taco menu, enjoy music from a DJ, and shop goods at a pop-up market. Tickets start at $10. Hours vary.
- Little Shop of Horrors at EaDo Playhouse | Friday to Sunday – Catch a production of the 1980s musical Little Shop of Horrors, playing at EaDo Playhouse. $25; limited discounted $12.50 tickets available. 8pm nightly.
- Star Wars Art Festival at The Space HTX | Saturday and Sunday – May the force be with you as you browse a selection of Star Wars-themed artwork by artists near and far, far away curated by Dandee Warhol. Costumes encouraged. Tickets start at $6. Noon to 6pm both days.
- Texas Vintage Festival at Humble Civic Center & Arena Complex | Saturday and Sunday – Shop for antiques, collectibles, home decor, and vintage pieces from local vendors at this two-day event at the Humble Civic Center. $3. 10am to 5pm both days.

- Knife Skills Class at Central Market – Learn pro knife skills like how to chiffonade and julienne at this cooking class where you’ll put your work to the test to make dinner. Bring your own chef’s knife, or purchase a Wüsthof at a discount at the event. $60. 6:30pm.
- Jillian Michaels Live at House of Blues – Hear from legendary fitness trainer Jillian Michaels when her Spring 2017 Tour comes to Houston for a stop at House of Blues in Downtown. $35. 7pm.

- Couples Therapy Comedy Retreat at the Houston Improv – Break the monotonous date night routine of dinner and a movie and opt for this hilarious romantic comedy show hosted by Alan Adams and featuring local comedians. - Cinco de Mayo at Eight Row Flint – Snag specials on tacos, margaritas, palomas, and Mexican beer in honor of Cinco de Mayo at Eight Row Flint. Noon to 2am.
- Cinco de Mayo at Historic Market Square | FREE – Dance to music from a lineup of four bands, including Mexican Blackbird and Gio Chamba, at Market Square Park to celebrate the holiday. 6pm.
- Midtown Wine Down in Bagby Park – Unwind at Midtown’s monthly happy hour in Bagby Park featuring music by Grupo Vida and happy hour specials on food and drinks from Rico’s Morning Noon Night. 5pm to 8pm.
- Etched Pint Glass Craft Workshop at Rest & Rec – BYOB to this craft workshop where you’ll learn the art of glass etching and go home with a custom pint glass. $28. 7pm to 9pm.
- 12,000 Degreez: Comedy, Rap Battle, and Karaoke Triathlon at The Secret Group – Hosted by local comedy kings Mycal Dédé and Zach Dickson, this month’s show will feature a battle between Houston’s own Chase Durousseau and Rich Williams. As an audience member, you’ll be voting to help decide the champion in what’s sure to be an unforgettable Cinco de Mayo celebration in the heart of EaDo. Comedian Andy Huggins is set to open the show and at the end of the show there will be a special performance from Hoja Lopez.
