Raise your lightsaber – or glowstick or flashlight – in a special Force-fueled tribute to the late actress and writer Carrie Fisher at Alamo Drafthouse in Katy on Friday, December 30, 2016 at 6:45pm.

Alamo Drafthouse in Mason Park will be welcoming fans of Carrie Fisher, Star Wars, and generally charming frankness to a special Friday evening lightsaber vigil. All ages are welcome at this family friendly gathering.

People are encouraged to dress up as their favorite Star Wars character and to bring “as many lightsabers as you own.”

Flashlights and glow sticks are also welcome at this brief 15 minute event. It’s intended to brighten the sky and say thank you to a woman whose inspired countless people – both on screen and in real life.

The local chapter of the 501st will be in on hand to help pay tribute to the fallen princess and general. The 501st is a national nonprofit organization comprised of Star Wars fans who build and wear their own stormtrooper armor, fighter pilot gear, and other movie-realistic character costumes.

Fisher passed away on Wednesday, December 28, after being hospitalized following a heart attack on Friday, December 23, 2016.
