  • Houston Truffle Chef Charity Challenge at The Astorian | Monday, January 11 – Watch 20 local chefs take the challenge of creating a unique dish using black truffles during this charitable culinary event at The Astorian. You’ll have the opportunity to sample each one while enjoying wine and sweet treats from the chocolate station. Tickets start at $150. 6pm to 9pm.
  • Whole Hog Butchery Class at Revival Market | Monday, January 11 – Learn the basic skills of butchering a whole pig during this class led by Revival Market’s charcutier and head butcher Andrew Vaserfirer and co-owner Morgan Weber. You’ll also be treated to dinner and are encouraged to BYOB. $125. 7pm to 9pm.
  • Galveston Restaurant Week | Daily – Order off special prix fixe menus at participating restaurants during the annual Galveston Restaurant Week to support the Galveston County Food Bank. Times, locations and prices vary.
  • Madonna in Concert at Toyota Center | Tuesday, January 12 – Don’t miss your chance to see legendary performer Madonna during her Rebel Heart Tour which only has two scheduled shows in Texas at Toyota Center.   • Houston Rockets vs. Minnesota Timberwolves at Toyota Center | Wednesday, January 13 – Cheer for the Rockets as they take on the Timberwolves at home. Tickets start at $20, but you may find cheaper or better seats on TicketNetwork’s resale exchange. 7pm.
  • Exploring Lunar New Year at MATCH | Starts Wednesday, January 13 – Check out Houston Arts Alliance Folklife + Traditional Arts’ Lunar New Year installation at MATCH. The multi-sensory experience will include calligraphy, costumes, music, paper cutting, audio and video elements, lion dances and more for the whole family. Starts at noon daily.
  • Shack Shakers in Concert at Rudyard’s | Thursday, January 14 – Get your tickets to see Kentucky-based band the Shack Sakers during a show at Rudyards Pub. The Yawpers and The Flamin’ Hellcats will open. Tickets start at $12. 9pm.
  • Mirrors for Princes Opening at the Blaffer Art Museum | Friday, January 15 | FREE – Attend the opening of the Mirrors for Princes exhibition from Slavs and Tatars art collective – which is concluding its five-city tour with a stop at the UH Blaffer Art Museum. The opening event begins with a performance-lecture and continues with a reception and viewing of the exhibition. 7pm to 9pm.
  • Yaga’s Chili Quest & Beer Fest | Saturday, January 16 – The annual Chili Quest and Beer fest hosted by Yaga’s Café in Galveston is back again for a day full of chili sampling and beer tasting. Tickets start at $15. Friday 8pm to 10pm; Saturday 10am to 6pm.
  • Blue Man Group in Concert at Jones Hall | Friday, January 15 to Sunday, January 17 – The theatrical phenom Blue Man Group is bringing their show to Houston for an entertaining evening full of comedy, music and more. Tickets start at $48; limited discounted tickets start at $33 or you may find cheaper or better seats on TicketNetworks’s resale marketplace. Showtimes vary.
  • From Paint to Poetry Rothko Writing Workshop at Jung Center | Saturday, January 16 – Learn the art of ekphrastic writing, drawing inspiration from Mark Rothko’s paintings on display at MFAH during this workshop at the Jung Center. Tickets start at $100. 10am to 4pm.

  • Tanlines in Concert at Walter’s Downtown | Sunday, January 17 – Dance all night to indie rock and electronic music from the Tanlines duo at Walter’s Downtown. Tickets start at $15. 8pm.
