Enjoy complimentary Saint Arnold beer and music at a party celebrating the debut of Josh Higgins’ HOUphoria at the Record Ranch Gallery inside Cactus Music on Friday, June 5, 2015.
On the 178th anniversary of the City of Houston’s incorporation, local artist Higgins is unveiling a special showcase depicting prominent and iconic Houstonians past and present. The artwork will include screen-prints and woodblock prints among other mediums.
Everyone is welcome at the free reception, which will be held in the Record Ranch Gallery inside Cactus Music, with a DJ set by Fat Tony and refreshments from Saint Arnold.
The exhibit features legendary figures such as Hakeem Olajuwon, Earl Campbell, Nolan Ryan, Bill Hicks, Beyonce, DJ Screw and many more. It will also include local pop-culture shapers such as Marvin Zindler, Roy Hofheinz and Montrose roller-blader Juan Carlos.
“This show in particular started with a play of Houston culture, people, places and experiences,” said Higgins. “I tried to go outside my own personal experience in order to capture a wide cross-section of Houston culture and history. I started taking these loose concepts and exploring them more seriously to strengthen them into final works.”
The free HOUphoria exhibit will run through July 2015.
