Mark Friday’s launch of the Orion spacecraft at a one-of-a-kind event at Reserve 101 in Downtown Houston. Gregor Mina, USA Business Director for Ardbeg Scotch, will be on hand to discuss his company’s first-of-its-kind experiment and postulate on the effects of anti-gravity on aging whiskey.

Space-Aged Whiskey in Anti-Gravity

Two 500ML casks of Ardbeg spent nearly three years orbiting the globe aboard the International Space Station at 17,227 miles per hour, 15 times a day for 1,045 days. Since it has been returned to Earth in September, the whiskey is being examined by scientists in a Houston laboratory to decipher the impact gravity has on the whiskey maturation process. The mission was a collaboration between local space research company NanoRacks LLC and Ardbeg Scotch.

A vial of this whiskey will be on display at Reserve 101 from Friday, December 5 through Sunday, December 7, 2014. In keeping with its reputation for accessing the most exclusive whiskeys and its setting in the heart of Space City, Reserve 101 is the only bar in the U.S. to get this installation.

The Final Six Bottles of Ardbeg Supernova

In celebration of the showing, Reserve will be offering the final six bottles of Ardbeg’s rare Supernova whiskey in the U.S. This special run was made available exclusively to the 100,000 members of the Ardbeg Committee on September 12 of this year. Although these casks were distilled here on earth, the limited release of this highly demanded whiskey was released to commemorate the return of Ardbeg’s casks of whiskey from space.

The final six bottles in the U.S. are now being offered to the general public and Ardbeg Committee members exclusively at Reserve 101 while the bottles last.

The anti-gravity display of the space-aged Ardbeg whiskey can be seen at Reserve 101 through Sunday, December 7, 2014.
