Join kids of all ages at the Houston Center for Contemporary Craft as they present the free third annual Hands-On Houston Family Festival: A Celebration of the Fiber Arts on Saturday, September 6, 2013 from 11am to 3pm.
Each September, the Houston Center for Contemporary Craft super-sizes their free monthly hand-on art workshop and creates a full-fledged all ages art party filled with indoor and outdoor activities.
This year, the festival is dedicated to the fiber arts, featuring hands-on craft activities like handweaving, papermaking and wet felting. Local artists from the Contemporary Handweavers of Houston, Houston Area Fiber Artists, Quilt Guild of Greater Houston, and Texas Basket Weavers Association will be on hand to provide demonstrations. And if you get hungry, Koagie Hots food truck will be around, offering lunch and treats for sale.
This is also the last chance to see the Houston Center for Contemporary Craft’s summer exhibits The Tool at Hand and Ctrl + P.
The event is free and registration isn’t necessary. Art materials are provided at the event.
