Shen Wei Dance Arts is known for its blend of Asian and Western influences, and for their commitment to creating striking images. Their inaugural Houston performance showcases two of the company’s most celebrated works: 2003’s The Rite of Spring, an innovative reimagining of Stravinsky’s famous work, and Folding, which blends stylized movement with the melodies of British composer John Tavener and Tibetan Buddhist chants.2003’s The Rite of Spring, an innovative reimagining of Stravinsky’s famous work, and Folding, which blends stylized movement with the melodies of British composer John Tavener and Tibetan Buddhist chants.
