The Ja-Ga Reggae Festival returns to Seawall Boulevard on Saturday and Sunday, April 13 and 14, 2013.

It may be a week shy of April 20, but this weekend it’s all about the reggae over on Galveston Island. Short for the Jamaica-Galveston Reggae Festival, the Ja-Ga Reggae Fest bring the flavors and sounds of Jamaica to the Texas coast.

Local and international reggae musicians include Freddie McGregor, Leroy Sibbles, Tessanne Chin, and the Bare Essentials.

On Saturday there will be a jerk chicken cook-off and there will be a Jamaican patty-eating contest both Saturday and Sunday. In addition to sampling your some great Jamaican flavors, you can also explore the arts and crafts and tropical products available for sale from vendors.

Admission is free for active military with a valid military I.D. and for kids ages 12 and under at the Galveston Reggae festival 2013.
