Bonus: every one of those iconic Bob Mackie outfits are recreated for the stage. $40 and up. Showtimes vary.
• Tay Butler: A Friendly Game of Basketball at Lawndale Art Center | Thursday to Saturday | Ongoing | FREE – This solo multi-media exhibition presents Butler’s research of, and art engagement with, basketball’s racial history and contemporary anti-Black issues. Through installation, painting, drawing, photography, collage, music and performance, Butler creates a multi-sensory environment which mirrors basketball’s pre-, post- and in-game play. 11am to 5pm.
• Houston Art Gallery Associations’ Spring Celebration & Open Galleries at Multiple Locations | Friday & Saturday | FREE – For two days, visitors can explore 16 member galleries of the Houston Art Gallery Association, touring curated artworks and exploring distinct facets of contemporary art across the city. Noon to 5pm.
• Comedian Anthony DeVito at the Riot Comedy Club | Friday & Saturday – With appearances on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert and Comedy Central Stand Up Presents, the New Jersey native blends New York City club-style comedy with storytelling and punchy standup. He’s in Houston for three shows across back-to-back nights. $20 and up. Times vary.
• Montgomery County Fair & Rodeo at Montgomery County Fairgrounds | Friday to Sunday – It’s a whirlwind of all things rodeo, with an entire closing weekend of fun, including a bbq cookoff, carnival rides, concerts, family attractions, a classic car show and much more. $10 and up; $5 for ages 5 to 11; free for ages 4 and under. Times vary.
• The Garden Theatre presents Reefer Madness at MATCH | Friday to Sunday | Ongoing – With lyrics by Kevin Murphy and music by Dan Studney, this musical is based on the 1936 exploitation film, originally titled Tell Your Children. It follows the exploits of a high school drama group telling the story of Jimmy, a fine and upstanding All-American boy whose life fell apart because of the evil reefer. Expect satire and hilarity. And yes, of course, there are performances on 4/20. $28. Showtimes vary.

• Deko in Concert at House of Blues – The rapper and producer, known for his collab with Migos on 2017’s “Slippery,” hits the Downtown stage for a mid-week show. $30. 7pm.
• An Evening with Amy Sedaris at Wortham Center – The prolific actress, author and comedian from shows like Strangers with Candy comes to Downtown for a night of conversation and audience Q&A. $39 and up. 7:30pm.

• ZaZa’s Cocktail Showdown: Botanical Edition at Hotel ZaZa Memorial City – Houston’s top bartenders go head-to-head to claim the title for the best floral spring cocktail creation. • Studio Menil presents Alphabet Soup at Richmond Hall – This creatively themed, annual spring party includes colorful cocktails, amusing hors d’oeuvres and an artfully presented seated dinner, all accompanied by live music. The fundraiser directly supports the Menil’s programming. $1,250 and up. 7pm to 11:30pm.
• Black Joe Lewis & The Honeybears in Concert at Main Street Crossing – The Tomball stage hosts a night of blues jams from guitarist and singer-songwriter Black Joe Lewis, backed by the Honeybears.$40 and up. 8pm.
• The Tortured Poets Department Listening Party at McIntyre’s Downtown – DJs will play the entirety of Taylor Swift’s new record alongside the rest of her discography and some other pop bangers. • Girls on Deck at Bauhaus – Come out and show your love for some girl power as a slate of all-female DJs showcase their house and techno talents. • Spring Music Series: Nick & the Hits at Chapman & Kirby | FREE – Dance the night away in the heart of EaDo to the pop, rock, funk and soul hits performed by the crowd pleasing, high energy Houston group. The show is part of Chapman & Kirby’s new weekly Spring Music Series on Friday nights. 6pm to 11pm.
• The Murder Mystery Co. presents Best Laid Plans at Pinstripes – The Upper Kirby spot hosts an interactive comedic murder mystery where you’ll play alongside professional actors to solve the crime–or not. • Canna Fest HTX at J-Bar-M Barbecue | FREE – In EaDo, the barbecue joint celebrates cannabis with more than 40 local vendors doling out smoke accessories, clothing, vintage, art and more. • Southern Smoke Decanted at the Historic Eldorado Ballroom– Wine fans can enjoy a vintners’ tasting reception featuring more than 40 specially chosen wineries from across the globe, with gourmet bites from top local chefs including Hamsa’s Yotam Dolev, Victoria Elizondo of Cochinita & Co. and more. • 23rd Annual Noche Caliente with David Sánchez at Miller Outdoor Theatre | FREE – Come out to Hermann Park for an incredible evening of music celebrating the different cultures of the Hispanic community. David Sánchez is recognized around the world as one of the finest saxophonists of his generation. His mastery of the instrument is undeniable, and his sound is unmistakable. 8:15pm.

• Brews & Browse Market at Urban South HTX | FREE – The Arts District brewery offers a chance to shop an assortment of local vendors along with family fun like a bounce house, face painting and raffle prizes while you sip on tasty brewed concoctions. 1pm to 6pm.
• Punk Rock Garage Sale at Bad Astronaut Brewing | No Cover – The Northside brewery hosts another installment of the monthly market series that offers the chance to shop more than 50 vendors doling out vintage wear, music gear, art, collectibles and much more.
