  • 39th Annual MLK Jr. Parade & Celebration at Minute Maid Park | Monday, January 16 | FREE to Attend – Celebrate the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. by marching or just watching the MLK Jr. Parade in Downtown. 10am.
  • MLK Day at Children’s Museum | Monday, January 16 – March down the Kid’s Hall at the Children’s Museum in celebration of civil rights for MLK Day. Tickets are $5. Noon.
  • Kidtastic on The Square at Memorial City | Wednesday, January 18 | FREE to Attend – Join Gymboree Play & Music for a morning of fun at The Square in Memorial City Mall. Ages 1 to 4 years old. 10am to 11:30pm.
  • Rainbow on Ice at Discovery Green | Thursday, January 19 – The city’s family-friendly city-wide LGBT celebration returns to Discovery Green for a chilly winter party with electrifying entertainment. The event is free to attend and open to everyone, but $14 skating fees apply. 7pm to 10pm.
  • Chinese New Year at The Woodlands Children’s Museum | Saturday, January 21 – Watch Traditional Lion Dancers, Chinese Folk Dancers, and the Red Chinese Knots perform at the Chinese New Year celebration at The Woodlands Children’s Museum. Tickets are $6. 10am to 2pm.
  • Arbor Day at the Houston Arboretum & Nature Center | Saturday, January 21 | FREE to Attend – Celebrate the Arboretum’s 50th anniversary on Arbor Day and enjoy fun activities for the whole family including guided tree hikes, woodturning demonstrations, crafts, seed and sapling giveaways, food trucks, and more. 10am to 2pm.
  • Lunar New Year Bash at the Children’s Museum | Saturday, January 21 – Become immersed in Houston’s diverse Asian heritage with activities and performances such as origami, lion dancers and more. Tickets are $12. 10am to 6pm.
  • Skate with the Storybook Stars at the ICE at Discovery Green | Saturday, January 21 – Bring your camera as your favorite storybook characters are on hand to skate with the kids at The ICE in Discovery Green Park. $14 per person. 5pm to 6pm.
  • Reptile Rendezvous at the Nature Discovery Center | Sunday, January 22 – Spend a Sunday afternoon at the Nature Discovery Center with up close and personal encounters with Reptiles. Tickets are $10 per family. 2pm.
