Marvel at music from across the pond at ROCO Brass Quintet’s program Crossing Over the English Channel at The MATCH on Friday, January 27, 2017.
In their second quintet program this season, the musicians of the ROCO Brass Quintet will perform works by composers from either side of the English Channel (United Kingdom and France.)
Comprised of George Chase and Jason Adams on trumpet, Gavin Reed on horn, Craig Beattie on trombone, and Jared Lantzy on bass trombone, the ensemble offers a unique concert experience, sharing the intimacy, accessibility, and virtuosity of ROCO in a quintet package.
Concert Cocktails at the Happy Half Hour
In addition to the evening of beautiful music, ticket-holders are invited to mingle over sidecars before the show at a special “Happy Half Hour” from 6pm to 6:30pm.
The Musical Journey
The program features the lively classical piece Summer Dances by Welsh composer William Mathias; a charming work based on Welsh nursery tunes written by Alun Hoddinott (a contemporary of Mathias); and Passages from French jazz bassist Patrice Caratini. Written for brass quintet, the final piece crosses over between jazz and classical musical styles.
