  • Zoo Lights 2016 at the Houston Zoo | Daily – Check out more than two million lights during Zoo Lights 2016 at the Houston Zoo. Sip on hot chocolate (add a shot of Bailey’s if you’d like) as you stroll around the Houston Zoo taking in the light displays and getting into the holiday spirit. Tickets can be purchased in advance by clicking here. Thursdays 6pm to 10pm; Friday to Sunday 6pm to 11pm.
  • The Nutcracker at Wortham Theater Center | Daily – Don’t miss the Houston Ballet’s production of The Nutcracker. This classic is sure to get you into the holiday spirit. Tickets start at $19, but you may find cheaper or better seats on TicketNetwork’s resale site. Thursday 7:30pm; Friday to Sunday 2pm and 7:30pm.
  • Into The Woods at The Hobby Center | Daily – The Broadway musical Into The Woods heads to The Hobby Center for two weeks of performances. Tickets start at $38.50, but you may find limited discounted tickets. Thursday 7:30pm; Friday 8pm; Saturday and Sunday 2pm.
  • A Christmas Carol at Alley Theatre | Daily Travel through Christmases past, present, and yet to come at this theatrical production of Charles Dickens’ classic Christmas tale at Alley Theatre. Tickets start at $35, not including ticket fees, but you may find limited discounted tickets starting at $29. 7:30pm nightly.
  • O Little Town of Bagels, Teacakes and Hamburger Buns at A.D. Players Theater | Daily – Mix it up this holiday season with this hilarious take on a Christmas story about faith and love. Tickets range from $20 to $40, but you may find limited tickets ranging from $10 to $20. Thursday 7:30pm; Friday and Saturday 8pm; Sunday 2:30pm.
  • Go Yell It On The Mountain at Obsidian Theater | Daily – Conceived by Obsidian Theater’s Artistic Director Tom Stell, Go Yell It On The Mountain is a warm-hearted celebration of human spirit and great gospel music. Tickets start at $15, not including ticket fees. Thursday to Saturday 8pm; Sunday 3pm.
  • 5th Anniversary at Roost | Thursday to Saturday – Celebrate Roost’s 5th anniversary with a menu of all-time favorites from chef Kevin Naderi. They’re making the celebration even sweeter by offering a prix fixe menu to benefit Houston Youth Symphony. $50. Thursday 4pm to 10pm; Friday and Saturday 4pm to 11pm.
  • Navidad on the Esplanade at East End Street Market | Friday and Saturday | FREE to Attend – Finish your last minute shopping at this Christmas Market with local vendors, crafts for the kiddos, food, drinks, and live music. 6pm to 10pm both days.
  • The First Noel at The Ensemble Theatre | Friday and Saturday – This feel-good musical shows how a community comes together to give the gift of love at Christmas. Tickets start at $36, not including ticket fees. 8pm both nights.
  • Day for Night Festival at Barbara Jordan Post Office | Friday to Sunday – Experience performances from more than 40 musical and visual artists including Aphex Twin, Bjork Digital, Odesza, Golan Levin and more during this festival celebrating light and sound at Silver Street. Tickets start at $170 for two day passes, not including ticket fees. Friday 7pm to 2am; Saturday and Sunday 2pm to 2am.
  • Handel’s Messiah at Jones Hall | Friday to Sunday – Staying true to tradition, The Houston Symphony brings back Handel’s Messiah again this year for three days of performances. Friday and Saturday 8pm; Sunday 2:30pm.
